Marshall Shulman
:Named Associate
At Russian Center

Marshall D. Shulman, former
Special Assistant to the Secre-
tary of State, has assumed his
new duties as associate director
of the Russian Research Center
of Harvard University.
Shulman, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Harry M. Shulman, of Webb

Just returned
from France
Shulman
where he visited on a Rockefel-
ler Public Service award, Shut-
man studied the operation of
the French Communist Party in
relation to developments in Mos-
coW.
As information officer of the
U.S. Mission to the United Na-
tions; from 1948-50 and as spe-
cial assistant to the Secretary
of State. 1950-53, Shulman has
had long familiarity with Rus-
sian problems. He studied the
Russian language and history at
Columbia University, Harvard
and University of Chicago.
A native of Jersey City, N.J.,
he holds a BA degree from the
University of Michigan, and an
MA from Columbia. During
World War II, he served as a
glider pilot, and later with the
U.S. Air Force in Burma, the
Philippines and Saipan, as psy-
chological welfare officer. He
holds the Bronze Star medal.
Mr. Shulman, prior to the war,
was a reporter for The Detroit
News, and later was information
officer of the National Safety
Council in Chicago.

Courtship Series

The Young Adult Department
of the Jewish Community Cen-
ter announces that a courtship
and marriage series in five ses-
sions will be led by Mrs. Mildred
E. Perlis, pre-marriage and mar-
riage and marriage counselor.
The sessions will be held on
five consecutive Thursday eve-
nings, from 8 to 9:30 p.m., at
the Ginsburg Lounge of the
Woodward Center.

ican Sociological Society. The
course is open to Center mem-
bers. and non-members.
