Yeshivah Launches
High Holiday Drive
For $75,000

Members of the Synagogue
Council, meeting on behalf of
the Yeshivath Beth Yehudah
Saturday night, pledged to in-
tercede with members of their
respective congregations during
the High Holy Days, in an effort
to raise $75,000 for the Yeshi-
vah.
The appeal was decided upon
after a review of the increased
responsibilities of the school in
the light of its new addition,
which is slated for completion
in November.
Rabbi Max J. Wohlgelernter
pointed out to representatives
of nearly all of the city's syna-
gogues, who were in attendance,
that the Yeshivah enrollment
had soared to an unprecedented
1'80 pupils in all its departments.
The increase, Rabbi Wohlgel-
ernter said, "has posed a chal-
lenge to all the friends of the
school." He dwelt on the respon-
sibility of the synagogues in
making possible the rearing of
a generation of Jews who can
take their place in the religious
community and do full duty to
Israel.
Rabbi Wohlgelernter further
pointed out that the sum of
$50,000 is necessary to complete
. the annex building, in addition
to which $25,000 must be raised
to make up the deficit in the
present Yeshivah budget.
Reports of last year's holiday
appeals showed that $13,000 was
raised through the synagogue
appeals and that an additional
$10,000 was contributed to the
building fund.
Rabbis Leizer Levin and Josh-
: ua S. Sperka urged that all
synagogues cooperate in this
important venture, and com-
mittees were appointed to ap-
.; proach officers of synagogues
to arrange for separate appeals
during Rosh Hashanah and
Yom Kippur.
Wolf Cohen, Yeshivah presi-
dent, announced that the dedi-
cation of the new building will
take place in November, simul-
taneously with the date of the
Yeshivah's annual dinner, Nov.
21, at Latin Quarter.
