PARIS, (JTA)-Dr. Luther H.
Evans, director general of the
United Nations Scientific, Edu-

zation, who just completed a
four-day visit to Israel, said
he was "very impressed" by the
enormous energy and. effort be-
ing spent on the upbuilding of
the new • state.
At a press conference, Dr.
Evans declared that one of the
things that impressed him most
was the fact that Israel was
making such great strides in
educating the new immigrants.
He noted that more than half
the population of the country
has been in Israel less than
five years and added that it
changed his ideas of America
as the "melting pot."
He saiu Israel wanted a few
more experts from outside and
that the UN could best help

said that the progress made in

could very well be adapted by

countries.
