Youngsters Can't Wait
For Special Polio Drive;
Raise $14 at Carnival

When the National Founda-
tion for Infantile Paralysis con-
ducts a special campaign on Aug.
31 for additional funds with
which to combat the dreaded
polio, youngsters in in the Seven
Mile-Evergreen section will be
able to hold their heads high
and say "We've done our part."
This week, five boys and girls
mustered together the best
neighborhood talent to put on a
carnival and picnic for children
in the section, with all proceeds
being sent to the March of
Dimes.
Leading the effort were Rich-
ard and Chuckie Waggenheim,
of 20089 Vaughan, Wendy Man-
son, of 20081 Vaughan, Barbara
Jean Bebble, a cousin of the
Waggenheims who was staying
at their home, and Michael
Glussman, of 20099 Vaughan.
The Waggenheim youngsters
and Wendy Manson had heard
their mothers, Mrs. Albert Wag-.
genheim and Mrs. Sheldon Man-
son discussing a letter they each
received from Helen Hayes, na-
tional chairman of the March of
Dimes.
The letter, sent to campaign
workers, told of the extra funds
that were needed to combat
polio and of a special porch light
drive planned for Aug. 31 in
which the funds were to be rais-
ed.
Not content to wait that long,
the youngsters rallied over 50
neighborhood children, served
them hot dogs and hamburgers
played games and had a lot of
constructive. fun.
And the fund needed to fight
infantile paralysis was reduced
by 14 enthusiastically-received
dollars.
