Biblical Quotations Foresee Dim
Future for Arab Boasts to Israel

By D. BEN AHARON

(Copyright, 1954,

AJP)

The uncompromising attitude
of the Arab States, their con-
tinual threats against Israel and
,their boasting that a state of
war exists and that they will not
rest until Israel is destroyed,
may explain why the prophets
predicted the following dire fate
for them:
The Palestine Arabs
Thus hath said the Lord God,
because the Philistines have
acted in revenge, and have taken
vengeance with the derision in
their souls, to destroy out of
eternal enmity; therefore, be-
hold; I stretch out My hand
against the Philistines, and I
will cut off the Kerethim, to de-
stroy the remnant. of the sea-
coast. And I will execute on
them great vengeances with f -,-.r-
ious chastisements.—Ezekiel 25:
15-17.
Jordan
Of the children of Ammon.
Thus hath said the Lord, hath
Israel no sons? Or hath he no
heir? Why then doth his king
possess God, and why doth his
people dwell in his cities? There-
fore, behold, days are coming,
saith the Lord, when I will
cause an alarm of war to be
heard in Rabbah of the children
of Ammon; and it shall become
a desolate heap. Then shall
Israel take possession of them
that possessed him, saith the
Lord.—Jeremiah 19: 1-5.
Saudi Arabia
- Thou wilt bring terror upon
thyself, the presumption of thy
heart hath deceived thee . . .
And Edom shall become an
astonishment. — Jeremiah 19:
13-22.
Egypt
The burden of Egypt. I will
stir up Egyptians against Egyp-
tians, and they shall fight every-
one against his brother, and
everyone against his neighbor
. and the spirit of Egypt shall,
be made empty. — Ezekiel 30:
1-3.
Iraq
Captured are the fortresses,
and the strongholds are con-
quered . . And Moab shall be
destroyed from being a „people,
because he hath magnified him-
self against the Lord. Terror,
and the pit, and the snare, be
upon thee, 0 inhabitant of Moab
—Jeremiah 48: 40-46.
Syria
Forasmuch as Syria .. Hath
counselled evil against thee
(Israel), saying, Let us go up

against Judah, and besiege it,
and let us make a breach there-
in for us . . Thus hath said
the Lord God, it shall not stand
and it shall not come to pass
. . . Behold, Damascus is taken
away from being a city, and it
shall be a ruinous heap.—Isaiah
17:1-3.

World Labor Delegates
Applaud Israel Report

GENEVA, TA) —A warm ova-
tion greeted Golda Myerson, Is-
rael Minister of Labor, on the
completion of her review of Is-
rael's manpower, unemployment,
productivity, housing problems
and accomplishments before the
International Labor Organiza-
tion conference here.
Mrs. Myerson reported that
Israel's housing development has
been designed to spread its pop-
ulation throughout the country,
directing it toward agriculture.
She said it is fortunate that the
labor movement haS a "deep un-
derstanding that higher produc-
tivity is in the direct interest of
the workers themselves."
Mrs. Myerson stated that Is-
rael's unemployment was due
not to surplus manpower, but
rather because the state lacked
financial means for development,
technicians and organizational
skill. She thanked the ILO and
other international bodies for as-1
sistance in aiding Israel's devel-
opment, and added that even
small countries had something to
offer other nations in the way
of aid and advice.

The negotiators are now con-

the amount to be paid by the
