To Pay Homage to Jewish "War Dead
Religious groups throughout
the city, together with mem-
bers of the Jewish War Veterans
and the American Legion, will
pay tribute to this city's war
dead in special services on Me-
morial Day, Sunday, May 30.
Reform - congregations — Tem-
ple Beth El, Temple Israel and
Suburban Temple—will hold a
joint service at 11 a.m., at Beth
El Memorial Park, at which Dr.
Frank F. Rosenthal will deliver
the memorial sermon on "Death
Is Not the End." Rabbis Rich-
ard C. Hertz, Minard Klein, Leon
Fram and M. Robert Syme also
will participate.
Graveside services will be held
by Cong. Bnai Moshe, beginning
at 12 noon, at Oakview Ceme-
tery. Lt. Bloch and Gen. Rose

Scout Troop 23 will participate.

Ahavas Achim to Start
Building of New Wing
Albert Burke, president of
Cong. Ahavas Achim, this week
announced that construction
will start soon on the addition
to the present synagogue at
Schaefer. The new structure, a
part of the congregation, is be-
ing called the Cambridge Syna- •
gogue.
Ground-breaking is expected
to take place within the next '
month or two.
The Cambridge addition will be
built on the north side of the
present building, and will house
enlarged facilities for the con-
gregation. Ralph Fortney is ar-
chitect for the building.
Rabbi Hoberman Hosts
Noted Rabbinical Leader
Rabbi Israel Rabinowicz, for-
mer Grand Rabbi of Keshinof,
has arrived in Detroit, and is
residing with Rabbi Jacob Ho-
berman, in his home at 3244
Monterey.
Rabbi Rabinowicz, a seventh
generation descendant of the re-
nowned Baal Shem Tov, foun-
der of the Hassidic movement,
is widely known in the rabbini-
cal world for his scholarship and
his knowledge of Jewish law.
Before World War II, his fol-
lowing was reported to be over
20,000 Hassidic Jews. Coming to
the United States, following the
war, Rabbi Rabinowicz assumed
spiritual duties at Ohel Israel
Synagogue, in New York.

the season at 8:30 p.m., today,
in Andrew Jackson School, Oak
Park Blvd. and Wyoming. Rabbi
Herbert S. Eskin will officiate
and preach the sermon.
