Three Youth Award Winners
Receive League Citations

BRUCE SIEGAN (center) accepts a certificate from Mrs.
HENRY GREEN, chairman of the League of Jewish Women's Or-
ganization's Mildred Simons Rosenberg Award, signifying that he
has been adjudged the outstanding young man in the community
this year. Watching the ceremony, which took place last evening,
at Beth Aaron Synagogue, at the League's annual meeting, is Mrs.
IRVING SMALL, League president, (also in top row), while SHIR-
LEY ANN FEALK (left) and RUTHE KATZMAN await their cer-
tificates as the most outstanding young women in the community.
Bruce, son of Dr. and Mrs. Sidney 0. Siegan, was also awarded a
silver kiddush cup, while the two young ladies were given silver
menorahs. Shirley is the daughter of the Philip P. Fealks. Ruthe's
parents are Mr. and Mrs. Abe Katzman.

Labor Zionists
Start Drive for
Northwest Buildinof

Detroit Labor Zionist

movement announces the open-
ing of its drive for the con-
struction of its educational and
cultural center in northwest De-
troit, at a cost of $250,000. Mor-
ris L. Schaver, a national leader
of the Labor Zionist movement.

Two Mumford orators have
talked their way to top speech
contest laurels.
Jerry Otzman, 12B, won first
place in the city finals of the
Detroit Times contest on Abra-
ham Lincoln. Russ Palmer, 12A,
copped first place in the extem-
pore division in the regional
finals of the University of Mich-
igan forensic contest.
Jerry, the only high school
student picked for the city com-
petition, won handily over Don-
ald Scherer of Foch Interme-
diate and Joan Swift of Nolan
Intermediate. The victor y,
which qualifies Jerry for the
midwest finals in Milwaukee,
also netted him $175 in U.S.
Bonds.

Mrs. Kliger taught nurses'
aides at Harper Hospital during
World War II and has been a
first aid instructress in various
parts of the city. She is chair-
man of the educational speak-
ers' bureau, Southeastern Divi-
sion of American Cancer So-
ciety, a member of the Commit-
tee on Jewish Scholarships, and
past president of Women's Aux-
iliary, Jewish Home for Aged,
Women's Auxiliary, Maimonides
Medical Society; and League of
Jewish Women's Organizations.
