YESHIVA UNIVERSITY
More Than Half a Century of Service by
YESHIVA UNIVERSITY
Since its establishment in 1897, as the Isaac Elchanan
Theological Seminary, Yeshiva University has pioneered
with vision and faith to meet the complex needs of our
nation and particularly those of the American-Jewish com-
munity. Its growth has paralleled that of Our great Ameri-
can academies of learning such as Yale and Harvard, which
also started as theological seminaries.
As the first accredited American University under
Jewish auspices, Yeshiva University represents a reservoir
of leadership. a, fountainhead of learning, and a bulwark
of Jewish continuity. Nowhere else in the world is there an
institution such as Yeshiva University that is perpetuating
and enriching Judaism and world culture; and training
young people to serve our people, our nation and humanity
with devotion and idealism. '
Yeshiva University faces the future with unlimited op-
portunities for still greater service.
Yeshiva University provides- its students with a well-
rounded education in the arts and sciences, Jewish learning
and extra-curricular activities. Through its eight schools
and divisions, four auxiliary services and three famous
scholarly publications, it renders notable service to the pro-
fessions, and the community.
