Local Hadassah
Answers Call for
Israel Supplies

Individual group meetings of
the Detroit Chapter of Hadassah
will on Tuesday feature supply
showers to restock the women's
Zionist organization's 125 insti-
tutions in Israel.
Responding to an SOS call
from national headquarters for
infants, youth and adult cloth-
ing and linens for hospitals and
health centers in Israel, Hadas-
sah members will bring sheets,
towels, pajamas, robes, blankets,
spreads, baby gowns, socks and
other items to their individual
meetings.
(A schedule of the group meet-
ings was published in last week's
edition of The Jewish • News).
Mrs. Samuel Sterling, Chapter
chairman of supplies, stated
that an unprecedented cold
wave in Israel necessitated mov-
ing up the date of the supply
showers from April.
Mrs. Sterling is assisted by Mrs.
George Cohn, co-chairman and
the following group chairmen.
Mesdames Fannie Choden, Irv-
ing Bernstein, Samuel Levitt,
Nathan Rosin, Samuel Benavie,
Maurice Meyers, William Man-
dell, Hanley Wolf and William
Nadler.
Mrs. Louis Redstone, Chapter
minyan chairman, stated that it
still is not too late to enroll as
a minyan parent by pledging
$24 (in minyans of 10 to form a
total of $240) to help maintain
a child in an Israel institution.

the Jewish Welfare Federation,
to be held at Temple Israel,
Monday. Dessert luncheon will
be served at 12:30, preceding the
meeting, by hostesses selected
from constituent members of
the League. All Detroit Jewish
women are invited.
Mrs. Nathan Spevakow, vice-
president in charge of programs,
and Mrs. Lillian Bernstein, co-
chairman of programming, an-
nounce that Dr. Vera M. Dean
will be the keynoter. Dr. Dean
has been on the staff of the
Foreign Policy Association Pub-
lications for 25 years. She edits
the association's Bulletin and
Headline Series. She is a grad-
uate of Radcliffe College, and
has traveled extensively.

Adas Shalom PTO Plans
Father-Pupil Program

Adas Shalom PTO, United He-
brew Schools, will hold a fath-
er-pupil-teacher night at 7:30
p.m., Thursday, in the synagogue
social hall. A film on the curri-
culum of the school and a talk
by an instructor on "Living in
Israel and the Haganah" will be
featured.
Mrs. Alex Brooks, chairman of
the program, states that a social
hour will follow.
Plans are being completed for
an open house on Feb. 23, to
which all parents are invited to
observe their youngsters at work.
