MORRIS POULTRY

Hi Kids! Hope everybody had
a wonderful summer. At the end
of vacation it's always good to
go back to school and get into
the swing of things again.
The first day of school is al-
ways exciting, what with seeing
old friends and discussing every-
thing that happened during va-
cation. -
There were 1200 new students
at Mumford Wednesday — most
with happy, smiling faces, and
some a little scared. They'll soon
get adjusted like everyone else.
Along with the new students,
there are 25 new faces among
the faculty and a new counsel!.
lor, Miss Cobb.
Heading the Student Council
this year will be Pat Coats, sen-
ate secretary; Carole Bloomfield,
vice-president; Jay Keystone,
president; Lorraine Small, house
secretary; and Sharon Cohn,
treasurer.
During the summer, the so-
cial service committee of the
Councilettes held meetings at
homes of various members, in-
cluding Ruth Ann Radway, Judy
Copley, Rose Kandel, Sandra
Littky, Sheery Kotzer, Nancy
Blank, and Joni Handleman. The
girls took care of children at the
D. W. Simons and 12th Street
Council Centers while their
mothers were busy learning
English at special classes.

Our community is growning
by leaps and bounds, and the
number of Jewish students in
the four high schools in this
area is constantly increasing.
Les Lunsky has already agreed
to keep this column informed of
activities at Royal Oak High.
Karen Mandlebaum will be our
contact for Lincoln High in
Ferndale and for Suburban
Temple youth. Berkley High will
be covered by this writer. The
Oak Park High is not yet com-
pleted but will soon be open for
full enrollment.
Incidentally SOC (Southern

was well represented in the
MSTY conclave in August at
Riseman Camp. Karen, Les and
myself, who attended, agreed
that it was an exciting and
worthwhile week-end.
