Israel President's
New Year Message
In a New Year's greeting to
the people of Israel and to world
Jewry, Israel's President Itzhak
Ben-Zvi spoke of the rebirth of
Israel's statehood.
"We have lived to witness the
rebirth of our language. Our
flag flies high amidst the flags
of other nations, a million and a
half Jews live in their homeland
However, this is only the begin-
ning. We have not yet reached
a point at which we may rest,"
he said.
"We are standing upon the
threshold of a New Year, at a
time when the world is await-
ing judgment. Peace or war is
in the balance. We earnestly
pray for true and lasting peace
amongst all nations. May the
whole world be blessed with a
year of peace and happiness. In
the peace of the world lies our
peace.
"Unto all our brethren of the
house of Israel wherever they
may be, I send my very best
wishes for the coming year. May
it be a year of blessing and suc-
cess for all of them in all their
undertakings. May they and we
behold Israel great and her
name enhanced."

Israeli Firms Show
Wares at Turkish Fair
ISTANBUL, (JTA)—More than
80 Israeli firms are represented
in the Israel exhibit at the Iz-
mir International Fair. Some of-
fer products never before offer-
ed on the Turkish market by Is-
raeli firms. The Israeli pavilion
this year is three times as large
as it was at last year's trade fair.
Turkish President Djelal Bay-
ar visited the Israeli pavilion on
opening day at the fair and ex-
pressed deep interest in the in-
dustrial development of Israel.
A number of high Turkish offi-
cials, including Minister of
Trade Fethi Chelikbash, have
expressed admiration for the
rapid progress of Israeli indus-
try as mirrored in the fair ex-
hibits.
