Arabs' Call to Iran
Against Renewing
Israel Relations
WASHINGTON, (JTA)—Corn-
munications have been received
in Iran by Premier Zahedi and
Ayatullah Kashani, an extremist
Moslem leader, from Iraqi re-
ligious officials urging the new
Iranian regime to support the
Arab League stand against Is-
rael.
One message asked Premier
Zahedi's support "because the
Israeli danger is not confined to
Palestine but will extend to the
Moslem Holy Places in Hejaz and
Iraq." Similar cables have been
sent to Teheran by the Iraqi
government. The occasion for
the communications was a report
that Iran was considering re-
newing its relations with Israel.
It is known that the messages
were viewed sympathetically by
Kashani, who was the only im-
portant leader to urge Persians
to take up arms with the Arab
League against Israel.

Encouraging Response Reported
In Call for Harry Cohen Forest
Abe Kasle, chairman of the
Harry Cohen Testimonial Com-
mittee, this week reported that
the first responses for the plant-
ing of trees in Israel, through
the Jewish National Fund, for
the establishment of the Harry
Cohen Forest, are heartening.
"More than 2,000 trees have
already been planted,' Mr. Kasle
reports, "and checks continue
to reach the JNF office here.
We are confident that in the
New Year
Greetings to

coming weeks sufficient funds
will come in to assure the 10,000
trees necessary to plant the For
est."
Mr. Kasle urges those who
have not yet responded to send
their checks to the JNF office
or to him personally. He again
expressed the hope that there
will be many responses in the
form of gardens of 100 trees
each, to help the speedy com-
pletion of the Forest.
Announcement will be made
soon regarding the testimonial
dinner planned to honor Mr.
Cohens 70th birthday.
