BONN, (JTA) - A local court
has imposed a 14-month jail
term on Walter Kolle, former
Nazi boss of Wittlich county in
the Eifel Mountains, for order-
ing and supervising the destruc-
tion of the Wittlich synagogue
in the November pogroms of
1938. A second defendant, for-
mer brownshirt leader Fritz
Ancel, was given 13 months.
After the war, Kolle assumed
a false identity and posed as
a boarder of his own wife. He
was not molested until he sent
a rabidly pro-Nazi letter to an
illustrated m a g a z i n e, which
traced him - and then exposed
him in its columns.
