Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Lux, of Pennington Dr., entertained
their daughter, Marilyn, at a recent lawn party and dinner.

Mrs. Max Conway, of Balmoral Dr., has left for Beverly Hills,
Calif., where she will visit her brother and sister-in-law, former
Detroiters Mr. and Mrs. Jack Broder.
Mrs. Maurice Schiller, of Tulsa, Okla., is in .Detroit visiting
her parents, Mr. and Mrs, Leon Schembeck, of Monte Vista Ave.
Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Garelik, of 13101 Etuton, Oak Park,
gave a lawn party and buffet supper in honor of Mr. Garelik's
mother, Mrs. Ann Garelik, who celebrated her 85th birthday.
Attending the celebration were Mrs. Garelik's eight children and
19 grandchildren, a brother and a - sister. She also has 23 great
grandchildren.
Mr. Jacob W. Kleinsmith, of 19022 Wildemere, has left for a •
fortnight's visit in Frankfort, Mich. He will return to Detroit on
July 27.
Mrs. Austin A. Kanter is leaving Detroit today to meet her
husband, Ens. Austin Kanter, of the U. S. Coast Guard, in New
Orleans, La.. before returning to Brownsville, Tex. where Ens.
Kanter is stationed. While in town for several weeks she visited her
parents, Mr. and Mrs, Albert Egrin, of Ohio Ave., her husband's
mother, Mrs. Rena T. Kanter, of Prairie Ave., and was guest of
honor at a party 'arranged by Mr. and Mrs. Harold Gluckman,
of Manderson Rd.
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Segel, of 20035 Mansfield, recently enter-
tained their sister, Lydia Eichler, at a dinner party celebrating
her engagement to Barton Cohen.
Miss Betty Paysner of 18045 Parkside is spending the summer
in Aspen, Colo., where she is attending the summer session at the
Aspen Institute of Music. -
Plan 'Talking Books' for Sightless Yiddishists

America announced that it will
record the first Yiddish "Talking
Books" to fulfill requests of el-
derly Yiddish - speaking blind.
Each "Talking Book" will be a
full book-length album of long-
playing records of the outstand-
ing works of Yiddish literature

of New York and the New York
Zoological Society, which oper-
ates the Bronx Zoo, this week-
end presented the Jerusalem
Biblical Zoo with a number of
animals, including an American
alligator; racoon and turtles.
The presentation was made to a
delegation of the National Com-
mittee for Labor Israel which
lest for a month's tour of Israel.
