Recent Bride

MRS. MARCUS SHARP

The marriage of Doris David-
son, daughter of Mr. and MrS.
Charles H. Davidson of New
York, and -Marcuis Sharp, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Abraham
Sharp of Broadstreet, Detroit
was performed at Riverside
Plaza, New York • City, Rabbis
Mordechovitz and Hockstein of-
ficiating.
In the bridal. party were the
parents of the couple, Jacob
Sharp, brother of the bride-
groom, who was best - Man; Mrs.
Claire Raskin, matron of honor.
In addition to the bride-
groom's parents and brother,
Gilbert Kaufman came from
Detroit to attend the wedding.
The newlyweds are now resid-
ing at 1710 Webb.

Cohen ls Named
Young, Israel Leader

At a recent joint meeting with
t h e general membership of
Young Israel Center, the follow-
ing officers were installed by
Rabbi Samuel Prero to serve the
Women's League of Young Is-
rael during the coming season:

Edith Hoffman was elected
president of the Department of
Michigan Ladies Auxiliary at
the organization's recent con-

June Bride

In continuing its program of
activities through the summer
months, the Young Marrieds
Group of Temple Israel will
hold a steak roast for paid-up
members at 7 p. in., July 11, at
Lola Valley Park.
Dr. Allen Marks, chairman,
advises those planning to attend

MRS. M. D. ROTHENBERG

At a double ring ceremony at
the Holiday Manor on June 4,
Marilyn Jane Schwartz, daugh-
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel
Schwartz of W. Boston Blvd.,
was joined in marriage to Mel-
vin D. Rothenberg, son of Mrs.
Betty Rothenberg and the late
Max Rothenberg. Rabbi Morris
Lehrman and Cantor Katzman
officiated.
The bride's gown was of
Chantilly lace over taffeta. Her
shoulder length veil was held in
place by a matching cap of
chantilly lace. She carried a
white Bible covered with white
orchids and lilies of the valley.
Miss Lois Goldberg was maid
of honor and the Misses. Beryl
Jane Swaab, Sandy. Baskin, Joan
Zitmer and Sue Ravin were
bridesmaids. Caryn and Harold
Fried, cousins of the bride, were
flower girl and ring bearer.
Lawrence Schwartz, brother of
the bride on reave from Camp
Pickett, Va., was best man. The
ushers were Mickey Ross, Ted
Nemzin, Morris Borkin, Louis
Fredericks and Robert Wander.
Sidney Ravin, uncle of the
bridegroom, and Mr. and Mrs.
Fried, grandparents of the bride,
also were in the bridal party.
Out of town guests were Mr.
and Mrs. Eugene Wertheimer,
Mr. and Mrs. Herman Worth,
Mrs. Al Freed of Los Angeles,
Mr. and Mrs. Max Klein, Mr. and

Following a dinner and recep-
tion the newlyweds left for a
honeymoon in Florida.

ed Israel archaeologist, will be
a visiting lecturer at the 1953
Summer session at Dropsie Col-
lege for Hebrew and Cognate
Learning, it was announced by
Dr. Abraham A. Neuman, pres-
ident of the college. Summer
classes begin July 8.

Dr. SAMUEL WOHL, of the
Isaac M. Wise Temple, Cincin-
nati, a prominent figure in the
Zionist labor movement in this
country, leaves this week on a
two-month tour of Latin Ameri-
ca on behalf of the Joint Distri-
bution Committee.
