Traffic Referee J. Wise
Receives American Flag
An American flag was pre-
sented to Traffic Referee John
M. Wise last week by the De-
troit police post of the Veterans
of Foreign Wars. Making the
presentation were Jack Harding,
past commander; Harry Tyrell,
present post commander, and
Steve Kovar, senior vice-com-
mander.
On presenting the flag to
Wise, Kovar, on behalf of the
posts' 650 members, told him
that "the flag- is a symbol of
justice, as exemplified by you in
your everyday endeavors." He
declared that the record of Wise
in administering justice ra s
"fair, just and impartial", and
that his record was known
throughout the police depart-
Ment.
In his acceptance speech, Re-
feree Wise said that he would
endeavor to _continue to uphold
the rights and privileges of
those who came before him.
AJC Junior Division
Holds Victory. Party'
The Junior Division of the
Allied Jewish Campaign cele-
brated its role in the drive with
a victory celebration last Sun-
day.
Avern Cohen, chairman of the
Division, was honored for his
leadership of the group. Receiv-
ing citations for meritorious
service were Norman Katz,
Marjorie Cowan, Louise Scho-
stak, David Buegeleisen, Jimmy
