B'lyn Physician's Poems
Published Posthumously

Dr. Morris Weintrob, one of
the most active and respected
Brooklyn physicians, passed
away April 7, just before the
publication of his first collection
of poems. This book introduces
him into that great company of
medical men who were also
poets—a company which in-
cludes Keats and Oliver Wendell
Holmes. Entitled "Moments of
Reflection, "it will be published
by Exposition Press, 386 4th
Ave., New York 16.
"Moments of Reflection" re-
ceived enthusiastic praise from
several leading memebrs of the
medical profession, including Dr.
Morris Fishbein, former editor
of the Journal of the American
Medical Association, who wrote
the preface, Lord Horder, Medi-
cal Consultant to the Royal
Family of England, and Dr. Max
Thorek, founder and secretary
general of the International Col-
lege of Surgeons.
D•r
Weintrob passionately
loved America and its gallant
Middle-Eastern counterpart, the
new nation of Israel. His poems
about these two countries, man,
love, and other subjects con-
tain the essence of his beliefs,
his wisdom, and his love of hu-
manity. He was born in London
in 1900. His family soon moved
to America, and, in 1913, he was
graduated from Boys High
School, Brooklyn. He continued
his education at CCNY, from
which he won his B.S. in 1921.
Four years later, he received his
M.D. from the New York Uni-
versity Medical College.
A Commander, Medical Corps,
U.S.N.R., he represented the U.S.
Navy at the 1948 meeting of the
International College of Sur-
geons in Rome. He won distinc-
tion professionally . and in com-
munity affairs.

Attribute Fire on Plane
In Israel to Sabotage

TEL AVIV, (JTA)—The U. S.
Embassy reported that an
American inquiry team investi-
gating the destruction by fire
of a U. S. Air Force Dakota at
Lydda airport said that the craft
was "forcibly entered prior to
the fire by person or persons
unknown and the door hasp and
lock were broken off."
Other findings indicate that
the fire was of severe intensity,
although there were no inflam-
mables in the plane other than
the fuel supply, which was not
ignited. The inquiry is con-
tinuing.

•'Ha lacha'

The term "Halacha" denotes
Jewish Law in its technical sense.
A definite Jewish law is called
a "Halacha." The term may be
traced to a Hebrew root mean-
ing "to walk" or "to go." In this
sense it may be designated as
the "way of life" intended by
the body of Jewish law, or that
Jewish law is actually a. "way of
life."
