Excitement Stirring for June 6-7

Final preparations are under
way for Detroit Chapter of Ha-
dassah's County Fair, which is
being held to raise funds for the
organization's work in health,
research, teaching and rehabil - .
itation.
Starting at 8 p.m., June 6, the
fair will continue until 11:30 p.m.
that evening, reopening again
at June 7 until 11:30
p.m. The fair is being held at
Beth Aaron Synagogue.
Twenty - three unusal booths
will contain hand-made gift
articles, linens, dolls, shell jew-
elry, home-made jams, fruits,
candies and cakes.
Mrs. Carl Schiller, chairman,
is assisted by 11 co-chairmen in
planning the event. - -
Business and Professional
. Group headed by Goldie Slak-
ter and Mrs. Samuel Green,
will tend the fish pond, for-
tune-telling booth, and Gay
Nineties pictures, while the
midway, featuring knock
Humpty Dumpty off the wall,
test your strength and dart
games will be manned by the
new evening group, under
Feuerman and Betty
Mullins;
Central East have set up the
green thumb (plant) booth and
antiques and trinkets, with Mrs.
Martin 'Cowan and Mrs. Harry
Sklar in charge. The trading
post, featuring boys' novelties,
will be the responsibility of
Central West, 'under Mesdames
Aaron Friedman and Nathan
Shur.
Russell Woods East, with Mrs.
Irving Weinstein as chairman,
will run a baked goods stand,
headed by Mesdames E. H. Las-
tar and Nat Gersuk. The village
store is the responsibility of
Russell Woods West, under Mes-
dames Stanley Solomon, chair-
man, and Morris Gross, co-
chairman.
Schaefer Group, while help-
ing to man the doll house and
kiddie k o r n e r, will, through
chairman Mrs. David Shingles,
staff and plan the children's
theatre. Mrs. Ben Koploy, Uni-
versity East Group, is setting
up the white elephant booth,
while the candy booth is being
arranged by University West and
Mrs. Alfred Rosen, chairman.
The Tel Aviv sidewalk cafe,
with Mrs. Nathan Fink chair-
man, assisted by Caroline Col-
lins, will feature the Hadassah-
burger.
Mrs. Charles Jacobson, gift
shop chairman, has assigned
aprons to Mrs. Cesar Choden
and - Mrs. Gertrude Feller,
towels a n d linens to Mrs
Harry Kopel and Faye Sterns;
doll house, Mesdames Joseph
¶fillinger and Harry Baum;
confirmation and graduation
gifts, Jean Lazar and Mrs.
Herbert Warner; kiddie kor-
"ler, Mrs. Sam Levitt; variety
shop, Mrs. Mortimer Liss and.
Mrs. Moe Ehrlich; and prizes,
booth, Mrs. Charles - Jacobson.
The Bagley Group, chaired by
Mrs. Samuel Perlmutter, will
staff the gift shop booths.

min Gordo n, Alvin Lezell,
Jerome KeyWell, D. W. Schiff
and Julian Frank.
Transportation a n d overall
assistance will be provided by
Sherwood Group, with Mrs. Jay
Thompson in charge. "Mrs. Jack
Mann is head of inventory, and
Mrs. Jack Warner is merchan-
dising chairman.
Young People's Social Club
Elects Its New Officers
Young People's Social Club, at
its recent election meeting, vot-
ed into office the following
members: Sam Pludwinski, pres-
ident; Elsie Ring, vice president;
Beverly Dishell, Annette Marx,
secretaries; Ethel Garber, treas-
urer. Board members are Na-
than Lachman, Leonard Gold-
ner, Ed Ganz, Walter Cykiert,
Fred Ferber.
The group will hold installa-
tion ceremonies in June. A meet-
ing is scheduled for 8 p.m.,
Thursday, at the Woodward Jew-

.Local Histadrut to Select Winner of Trip to Israel
Canvassers and friends of
Histadrut will meet Thursday
evening to select an active work-
er from this- area to attend the
fifth Histadrut Folk Delegation
to Israel, planned for July 12.
The- delegation, chosen from
communities throughout the
country, leaves annually on a
tour sponsored by National
Committee for Labor Israel.
The group will fly by El Al to
England, following which they
will visit for 22 days in France
and Israel.
The schedule has been ar-
ranged so that delegates will be
in Rehovoth at the opening
ceremonies of the new Eliezer
Kaplan Memorial Hospital, now
nearing completion.
The Detroit Histadrut cam-
paign provided funds for the
surgical department in the in-
stitution.
At Thursday's meeting, cita-
tions will be presented to out-
standing workers in the local
