The Elkin Hotel and Travel
Bureau announces the opening

The move. according to Elliott
and William Elkin, operators of
the agency, will allow a larger
staff to render more complete
service. The agency specializes in

fiDC Combines Credit Funds

Two independent credit funds
in Paris, both sponsored by the
Joint Distribution Committee,
have been combined into a cen-
tral aid agency designed to pro-
vide millions of francs loans
to Jewish business and profes-
sionall people in France, an-
nounced Moses A. Leavitt, JDC
executive vice--chairman.
Sin-ce 1945 the two separate
funds have granted nearly 10,-
000 individual loans aproximat-
ing 700,000,000 French francs
($2,000,000). Through this pro-
gram, an estimated 30,000 per-
sons formerly on JDC relief rolls
have been helped to become
self-supporting.

munities throughout the na-
tion giving full-scale support
to. BIG (Bonds of the Israel
Government) Day on Sunday,
June 14, mobilization for the
intensive one-day • sale of
State of Israel Bonds is reach-
ing record proportions, it was
announced • by Lawrence G.
Laskey, national chairman
for BIG Day.
Mr. Laskey disclosed that
.BIG Day, which will mark the
cliniax of the Spring, 1953
phase of the Israel Bond
drive, has evoked exrfressions
of support from many prom-
inent . Americans.

Hadassah Plans
Final Luncheon

dames J. S. LINDEN, E. GOLDBERG and E. LIPKIN. The three-
act play, under the professional direction of Stuart Piggins, will
be presented at 8:15 p.m., Monday; at the Art Institute. Others in
the cast are Elaine Savine, Lorene Spector, Vivian Kamen, Ruth
Gobel, Shirley Shapiro, Dorothy Moran, Fay Ruskin and Thelma
Polsky. Proceeds will go to the group's overall program, which
includes scholarships for talented musicians, musical instruments
for the needy and • parties in local institutions. Mrs. Jerome Blum
is club president, and Mrs. M. J. Greenberg is chairman of the
Drama Group.

Plan. Fall Wedding

The closing luncheon of the
season for study groups of the
Detroit Chapter of Hadassah
will be held at 12:15 p.m., May
26, at Holiday Manor. Reserva-
tions are being taken by the
Hadassah Office until Wednes-
day.
A program featuring "fash-
ions in books" will be presented
by Mrs. Albert Elazar, vice-
president of education and Mrs.
Max Chomsky, chairman. Mrs.
Harry Oberstein is analyist and
coordinator.
The Musical score is by Mrs.
Edward Zellman, and news and
views will be presented by Mes-
dames Theodore Rosen, Julian
Esper, Harry A r a n o w, Jack
Bookholder, Samuel Stulberg,
Joseph Prescott, Maxwell Lowe,
Sam Lipshey, Harry Kobel and
Arthur Klein.
Mrs. Albert Shulman and Mrs.
Myer Titelbaum are chairmen
of arrangements, and Mrs. Lee
Waldbott is designer of are de-
corations. Awards will also be
presented to Hadassah's honor
course participants.
Mrs. Carl Schiller, g e n e r a 1
chairman of Hadassah's County
Fair, to be held on June 6 and
7, at Beth Aaron Synagogue,
advises that every Monday and
Thursday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. the
storage committee will be at the
small prayer room to receive
and sort merchandise for the
event.

Israel Enterprises Has-
Prize-Winning Display

New additions to Israel's line
of export-ware will be shown
this week at Israel Enterprises,
exclusive all-Israel shop at 11820
Dexter.
The display includes hand-
painted ceramic artware by
Lapid of Tel Aviv, copper and
pewter bagel dishes by Oppen-
heimer & Boron, of 'Tel Aviv,
raffia place-mats by Honig of
Nathanya and drawings and
sketches by Singer & Rosenthal
of Tel Aviv.
The ceramic and pottery dis-
played is the same that won the
fashion and design prizes at the
1952 Trades Fair in Denmark.

$416,000,000 Given to Israel
In Five Years by U. S. Jewry

NEW YORK, (JTA) — Using
private philanthropy as a "little
Point Four. program," Jews in.
the United States have con-
tributed almost half—a total of
$416,000,000—of the billion dol-
lars in aid which has gone to
help the people of -Israel since
the establishment of the state,
Rudolf G. Sonneborn, national
chairman of the United Israel
Appeal, reported to the organi-
zation's board of directors' meet-
ing.
