Calling For Expansion Policies
Benjamin Wilk, prominent
Detroit engineer and a member
of 'the .board of governor's of
the Hebrew Institute of Tech-
nology Haifa, 'Israel, is cur-
rently in the Jewish state, where
he attended the recent annual
meeting of the board.
Wilk took part in the discus-
sions which resulted in adopting
a budget of IL1,889,447 for the
coming year, and: in which the
name of : the noted Israel insti-
tution was changed to the Tech-
nion, Israel Institute of 'Tech-
nology.
Gen. Yaakov Dori, Technion
president, and prof. Sydney
Goldstein, vice-president, urged
the board to' expand its' present
enrollment from 1,200 to 2,500
students, with an additional 150
in graduate school.
The board encouraged its ad-
ministrators to develop new de-
partments of agricultural en-
gineering, production engineer-
ing and agricultural technology
Other resolutions dealt with the
building program and awarding
of honorary degreeS.
Expansion plans also were ap
proved for the Technical High -
School, operated, by the Tech-
nion to include specialization for
mechanic's, technicians, aero-
