Miss Lila Chatlin, of Phoenix, Ariz., is in town to visit her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Chatlin, of Fullerton Ave.
Judge and Mrs. Charles Rubiner sailed on Monday for a visit
in Israel.
Mrs. Jack Marx, of Northlawn Ave., has left for a three-week
vacation in Miaini Beach, Fla.
Miss Loretta Arlene Gallison, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ben
Gallison, of Pennington Dr., was recently hostess at a luncheon
at the Sheraton Cadillac Hotel honoring her sixteenth birthday.
Mr. and Mrs. Max Schunderman, of Sturtevant Ave., prior to
their departure for Israel where they currently are visiting, were
entertained by Mr. and Mrs. A. Kessler, of Monterey Ave. Before
returning home, the Schundermans will stop in Rome and Paris.
Ethel Mendelson will present Phyllis Elkin, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Nathan Elkin, of 19369 Marlowe, in a piano recital on
Tuesday evening, at McGregor Library. Her compositions will in-
clude works by Bach, Handel, Scarlatti, Haydn, Mendelssohn, Mac-
Dowell, Tscherepnine and Shostakovitch. The public is invited.
Out of' town guests who were here this week to attend the
wedding of Sharron L. Max and'Carmi M. Slomovitz were Mitchell
Gandal, Robert and Alvin Gandal and Mr. and Mrs. J. Pliskin of
Cleveland; Rabbi and Mrs. Israel M. Goldman and daughters, Anna
Naomi and Toby Judith, of Baltimore; Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin
Slomovitz and Mr. and Mrs. S. Paul Epstein of Bayonne, N. J.;
Bernard Slomovitz of Arlington, N. J.; Mrs. Sol Wezelman and
daughter, Joy, of Bismarck, N. D.; and Mr. and Mrs. Al Goodman,
of Chicago, Ill.
Mr; and Mrs. George White, of 17126 Griggs, will leave shortly
to take up residence in Los Angeles, Calif.
A combination brunch and kitchen shower was recently given
by Mrs. Edward Siden lfonoring the forthcoming marriage of Miss
Helynn Koratzky. Guests included Mesdames Alice Lipshaw, Kay
Barish, Sally Rader, Rita Deitch, Carolyn Gould, Shirley Kirman,
Marilyn Klein, Irene Elkus and the Misses Iris Koratzky, Phyllis
Koratzky, Sandra Taub, Nancy Gilman, Shirley Katz.
Dr. and Mrs. Paul Vago are now residing at the Lee Plaza Ho-
tel. Mrs. Vago is the former Mrs. Clarence Frank.
Judith Patterson, young Detroit pianist, will be heard in re-
cital Monday evening, at the Lecture Hall of the Detroit Institute
of Arts. Miss Patterson, a student of Julius Chajes, recently per-
formed as soloist with the Center Symphony Orchestra.. Her pro-
gram will include the first performance of Clark Eastham's Pre-
lude and Toccata, as well as compositions by Beethoven, Brahms,
Schumann, Chopin, Debussy and Chajes' Palestinian Dance.
Miss Nancy Jo Schwartz recently was tendered a sweet six-
teen party by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Schwartz, of Strath-

Shifman, Nancy Blanke and. Bob Dunsky, Alice Robbins and Mary

Padover and Burt Epstein, Ruth Ann Coggan and Bob Boesky,

Ettinger, Edwina Croll and Mike Klynn, Miriam Vinocur and
Dale Stone. Nancy's host was Gene Axelrod.

Council Leaders Back
From N. Y. Conferences

Staff representives of the Jew-
ish Community Council attend-
ed sessions in New York last
weekend of the Community Re-
lations Conference and of the
AssociatiCn of Jewish Commun-
ity Relations Workers. Presenta-
tions were made at these meet-
ings by Boris Joffe, executive
director, and Dr. S. Joseph Fau-
man, research director.
At a session of AJCR Joffe
was one of a panel with Nor-
man Thomas and George Silver
of the Jewish Labor Committee,
which considered "The Jewish
Community Relations Workers'
Concern About Anti-Semitism."
At a session of the CRC Dr.
Fauman reported on a survey of
changing neighborhoods that
had been conducted by the De-
troit Council, and which includ-
ed communities throughout the
country.
At the concluding session, Dr.
S. Andhil Fineberg of the Jewish
Committee was re-elected presi-
dent of the association.
