Mrs. Jack Marx, of Northlawn Ave., has left for a three-week vacation in Miaini Beach, Fla. Miss Loretta Arlene Gallison, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Gallison, of Pennington Dr., was recently hostess at a luncheon at the Sheraton Cadillac Hotel honoring her sixteenth birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Max Schunderman, of Sturtevant Ave., prior to their departure for Israel where they currently are visiting, were entertained by Mr. and Mrs. A. Kessler, of Monterey Ave. Before returning home, the Schundermans will stop in Rome and Paris. Ethel Mendelson will present Phyllis Elkin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Elkin, of 19369 Marlowe, in a piano recital on Tuesday evening, at McGregor Library. Her compositions will in- clude works by Bach, Handel, Scarlatti, Haydn, Mendelssohn, Mac- Dowell, Tscherepnine and Shostakovitch. The public is invited. Judith Patterson, young Detroit pianist, will be heard in re- cital Monday evening, at the Lecture Hall of the Detroit Institute of Arts. Miss Patterson, a student of Julius Chajes, recently per- formed as soloist with the Center Symphony Orchestra.. Her pro- gram will include the first performance of Clark Eastham's Pre- lude and Toccata, as well as compositions by Beethoven, Brahms, Schumann, Chopin, Debussy and Chajes' Palestinian Dance. Conferences Staff representives of the Jew- ish Community Council attend- ed sessions in New York last weekend of the Community Re- lations Conference and of the AssociatiCn of Jewish Commun- ity Relations Workers. Presenta- tions were made at these meet- ings by Boris Joffe, executive director, and Dr. S. Joseph Fau- man, research director. At a session of AJCR Joffe was one of a panel with Nor- man Thomas and George Silver of the Jewish Labor Committee, which considered "The Jewish Community Relations Workers' Concern About Anti-Semitism." At a session of the CRC Dr. Fauman reported on a survey of changing neighborhoods that had been conducted by the De- troit Council, and which includ- ed communities throughout the country. At the concluding session, Dr. S. Andhil Fineberg of the Jewish Committee was re-elected presi- dent of the association.
