For Voting Efforts

Jewish orphans in a Joint Distributiop Committee-supported
orphanage in France enjoy their seder,. thanks 443 the Passover aid
provided by JDC, major American agency aiding distressed Jews
abroad. This year,' JDC has supplied nearly 270,000 pounds of
matzos and other Passover supplies for distribution to needy
Jews in Europe, North Africa and the Near East. Funds for
JDC's overseas operations are provided by the United Jewish

Brith was among the 23 national
agencies to win the top awards
in the 1952 register - and - vote
campaign conducted by the. Am-
erican Heritage Foundation.
Announcement of the winners,
made in New York by Charles
E. Wilson, former president of
the General Electric Company
and chairman of thr, fr,mria-
tion's committee of judges, was
received here at the national of-
fices of Bnai Brith by A. B. Kap-
plin, director of the organiza-
tion's National Commission on
Americanism and Civic Affairs.
who directed the efforts of Bnai
Brith in getting out the v o t e
last fall.
Bnai Brith was cited for "the
most intensive and effective reg-
ister and vote effort conducted
by a fraternal organization."
Wilson announced also t h a t
15,000 national, state and local
organizations , were entered in
the contest and that the 23 top
winners will each receive a rare
reproduction in full color of one
of the late Arthur Szyk's illus-
trated paintings of the Declara-
tion of Independence, the Bill of
Rights and other historical doe
uments.

-A rare photo shows Naftali
Herz Imber when he was 49
years old. With him is one of
his young admirers, Julius Ha-
ber, who was instrumental In
having Imber's remains brought
to Israel.

During the summer of 1950.
on one of his visits to his chil-
dren in Israel, Julius Haber, long
prominent in Zionist activities
in the United States, initiated
a movement to have the remains
of ;Naftali Herz Imber, author
of "Hatikvah," transferred to the
State of Israel.
On the advice of Berl Locker,
chairman of the Jewish Agency,
Haber organized a committee.
with Morris Margulies, former
secretary of the ZOA, as its
chairman, and this month Im-
bees remains were removed
from Mount Zion Cemetery, New
York, where.' he was buried on
Oct. 10, 1909, to the National
Cemetery in the State of Israel.
Locker promised the Agency's
participation in the re-burial of
the, author of Israel's national
anthem, when his remains reach
Israel.

Gets Three Months for
Attacking Jewish Boy

BOSTON, (JTA)—One of two
youths arrested for attacking a
Jewish boy in the Roxbury dis-
trict, scene of a number of anti-
Jewish incidents, has been sen-
tenced to three months impris-
onment in Dorchester District
Court.
Judge Wiliani G. Lynch, after
hearing evidence, said there was
no anti-Semitism in this case
and reprimanded newspapers for
giving it an anti-Semitic hue.
Sgt. Abraham Morse, who made
the police investigation, -likewise
said there was no anti-Jewish
incitement
