Detroiter David R. Porvin has been elected president of the
Greater Miami Beach Motel Association.
Mrs. Helen Mayer. treasurer of the New Study Club, was
hostess to members of the organization at luncheon Tuesday,- in
her home, 3359 Collingwood. The occasion honored the return
home of her son, Edward, from Korea.
Messrs. and Mesdames. Abe Schmier, Ben Fenton, Barney
Smith, Albert Padover, Morrey Jacobs and John Lurie are vaca-
tioning in Honolulu.
Meyer L. Prentis was re-elected president of the Citizens Re-
search Commission of Michigan.
Samuel Reshevsky, former world's chess champion, will be

Tau Delta Phi fraternity of the University of Michigan is
pledging 14 new men, including the following Detroiters: Mike
