JWV Plans 10th
Military Ball

The 10 annual Military Ball
of the Department of Michigan,
Jewish War Veterans, has been
scheduled for Feb. 21 at the
Veterans Memorial Building, on
W. Jefferson.
One of the community's lead-
ing social events, the dance this
year will have a suprise attrac-
tion, announced Harvey Glass-
man and Milton Berry, chairmen
of the 10th anniversity commit-
tee.

next Wednesday, 8:30 p.m., at
the Bnai David Synagogue, Elm-
hurst at Fourteenth.
Under the direction of Dan
Frohman, the Cantors Associa-
tion has prepared a varied pro-
gram of sacred music, Yiddish
and Israel • folk Songs.
All proceeds for thisconcert

'will go towards the philanth
program of the Association. Gift
certificates for Passover food will
be sent to cantors in Israel - and
Europe, and funds will be set
aside for helping Jewish liturgi
cal music and composers in Is-
rael.
The first portion of the Can-
tors' program will include "Hal- ,
lelujahr "Av Horachamim,"
"Horah," "M'loch," "Yigdal,"-and
"'rumba." The second portion
will feature "Hallelujah,"
"Uv'yorn Simchaschem," "Mogen
Avoth," "Ki Keshimchoh," "Ka-
cha," "Un'sane Tokef," and "Reb
Dovidl."
Among the composers whose
works will be sung are Frohman,
Wilensky, Wasilkowsky, Poliakoff,
Zeidel Rovner, Abra.s; - Zaira, Zil-
berts and . Lewandowski.
The chairman of this concert
is Cantor A. A. Rosenfeld. Cantor

Men's Club dinner, to be held on
Feb. 19, in the synagogue's social
hail.
Rabbi Theodore L. Adams,
head of the Rabbinical . Council
of New Jersey, will be guest
speaker.
The young Orthodox rabbi at-
tended the Rabbi Isaac Elconin
Theological Seminary and did
graduate work at Columbia Uni-
versity, He was ordained in 1937.
Presently Rabbi Adams is doing
work for a PhD in sociology.
He is affiliated with the Zion-
ist movement, of which he for-
merly was a member of the
executive committee of the Zion-
ist District and American Zionist
policy committee; a member of
the executive of Synagogue
Council of America; member of
the division of religious activities
of the Jewish Welfare Board.
He served as a member of the
Jersey City Planning Committee,
and is now on the Civil Rights
Committee and .consultant to
New Jersey's governor on the
state Youth Conference.
In 1950, Rabbi Adams received
the Yeshiva University award,
given to the student or graduate
or other individual ,who has
worked most to promote the
Jewish faith.
The musical portion of the
program will be under the di-
rection of Cantor Hyman J. Adler.

Detroit religious leaders, mem-
bers of the Rabbinical Council
of America, have designated
February as "Torah Education
in the Diaspora" month of the
Jewish Agency for: Palestine.
Rabbi Wolf Gold, world Miz-
rachi leader and member of the
Agency's Torah department, will
address a city-wide gathering in
celebration of the observance on
Feb. 18, in Young Israel Center.
The meeting will be sponsored
by Detroit area members of RCA.
The sponsors include Rabbis
Israel I. Halpern, Max Kapus-
tin, Samuel Prero and Max J.
Wohlgelernter, of Detroit, 42,m-
uel Stollman,, of WindsOr, C.
Kaufman, of Mt.. Cleiriens And
N. Katz, of Toledo. -

the community, Cong. Bnai Is-

to organize a young men's club.
The first organizational meet-
