Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Slomovitz of Bayonne, N. J., former
Detroiters, were honored at a dinner at the home of their chil-
dren, Dr. and Mrs. Harold Sahm, in Staten Island, N. Y., Sunday
night, on the occasion of their 40th wedding anniversary. Mem-
bers of the family were present from several cities, including
Detroit.
Mr. and Mrs. Hoke Levin are vacationing in Florida.

Mr. and Mrs. Leon S. Schembeck, of Monte Vista Ave., are
spending a month in Tulsa, Okla., where they are visiting their
daughter and son-in-law, the Maurice Schillers.
. Dr. and Mrs. Israel Goldstein (he is national president of the
American Jewish Congress) were honored at a breakfast in the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles P. Feinberg, of 18954 Warrington,
last week, while in town to address a city-wide meeting of the
Michigan Council of AJC. Guests attending the breakfast were
chapter presidents and division board members of the Detroit
Women's Division of Congress.
Mr. and Mrs. Louis E. Goldberg and daughter, Fern, of N.
Martindale Ave., left recently for a month's stay in Miami Beach,
Fla.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry.Nachman are in Miami Beach, Fla., for a
month's vacation.
Dr. and Mrs. Robert P. Natelson and daughter, Kathie, of El
Paso, Tex., are visiting here with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eu-
gene H. Lester, of Sturtevant Ave. • Mrs. Natelson and daughter
will remain in Detroit while Dr. Natelson, a captain in the medi-
cal corps, leaves for service in the Far East.
Una Goodman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Max Goodman, of
2654 Glynn Ct., will be honored by her parents at an open house
reception at the family home from 2 to 5 p.m., Sunday. The
occasion is in hOnor of Una's graduation from Wayne University's
College of Education.
Mr. Sam Sike,,of Dexter Blvd., is at Long Beach, Calif. for a
visit with his children, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Roska, and grandchild-
ren, Laurel Beth and Martin Allan.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Schlesinger, of 18485 Littlefield, announce
the adoption of a son, Jay Bernard, born on Dec. 8.
Prior to her marriage on Dec. 25 to Philip H. Gold, Miss Anita
Neiman, daughter of the Manuel M. Neimans, of Pennington Dr.,
was entertained by Mesdames Seymour Wolk and Albert Schrut, of
Los Angeles, Calif., and Mesdames Reubin Dubrinsky, Eugene
Weiss, Irving Rosenberg, Joseph Kron, Earl Ressler, Irving Haron
and Louis Seiler.
Nina Claire Katz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Irving I. Katz, of
Santa Rosa Dr., will leave next week to begin freshman studies
at the University of Michigan.
A farewell dinner was given in honor of Milton P. Kogan,
assistant general manager and vice-president of Associated In-
dustries; Inc., recently at the Sheraton Cadillac. Presentation of
a gold watch was made by Buck M. Goldman, president of the
company.
Miss Rochelle Ruben was recently given a shower by Miss
Elaine Herskowitz and Mrs. Al Wohl at Kormendy's in honor of
her forthcoming marriage to Eddie Chinsky on March 1.
Mr. and Mrs. Norman Goldenberg, of Richton Ave., recently
entertained their' daughter at the Elmwood Casino in honor of
her sixteenth birthday.

Israel to Import Grain
ISTANBUL, (JTA)—The Turk-
ish Ministry of Trade has an-
nounced that Israel will import
100,000 tons of wheat from Tur-
key. The grain will be trans-
ported on Israel vessels. The
first shipment of 5,000 tons left
Turkey last weekend.
