J ews to Abstain from Politics
Dutch Socialist Party Accuses
Reds of Using Nazi Methods
THE HAGUE, (JTA) — The
Netherlands Socialist Party has
issued a statement here de-
nouncing the Prague trial as
David A. Croll, member of
anti-Semitic and accusing the the Ontario Parliament, was
Communists of using the same honored last week with the nam-
methods as the Nazis. It appeal-
ed to all Dutch parties to fight
race hatred.
The issue was also raised in
the Amsterdam town council
when a Jewish Socialist council-
lor accused Communist members
of the body of being anti-
Semitic.
ROME, (JTA)---The Union of
Italian Jewish Communities has
issued a letter to its constituent
bodies advising against their be-
coming involved with any of the
political parties on the current
Italian scene. The letter, how-
ever, points out that it is in or-
der for communities to express
opinions on peace or to protest
the release of war criminals, the
resurgence of anti-Semitism or
the rearming of Germany.
The letter was issued follow-
ing the recent resignation of Dr.
Ren,zo Bonfiglioli as president of
the Union over these and other
/natters.
The family of the late Joseph
Ziff wishes to thank its rela-

The presentation of the hon-
or was made at a dinner at the
Royal York Hotel, Toronto, at-
tended by 1,000 people.
Mr. Croll is a former mayor of
Windsor. He has held important
war commissions and has been
on vital missions to Israel.
Mr. and Mrs. Saul R. Levin
of Detroit, brother and sister-in-
law of Mr. Croll, represented
the Detroit members of the fam-
ily at the dinner.
Mrs. Hillel Croll of Windsor,
mother of Mr. Croll, was among
the guests of honor at the din-
ner, proceeds of which netted
$35,000 for the JNF. Samuel Us-
sishkin, • son of the late M. M.
Ussishkin, head of the JNF in
Jerusalem for many years, pre-
sented the scroll, signifying that
500 dunams of land in the Negev
will be called Nachlath David
Croll, to the Canadian Jewish
leader.
Over 35,000 Jews Enter
Canada Since End of War
MONTREAL, (JTA) — Jewish
immigration accounted for an
increase of sixteen and one-half
percent in Canada's population
since the end of the Second
World War, Immigration Min-
ister Harris, reported here ad-
dressing the 30th annual meet-
ing of the Jewish Immigrant
Aid Society. He said that over
35,000 Jews, many from Euro-
pean displaced persons camps,
had been admitted to Canada.
During the first nine months
of this year Canada admitted
3,894 Jewish immigrants as com-
pared with 4,756 in the corres-
ponding period of 1951.
