FEPC Lows Work Well in Jewish Communities
WASHINGTON, (JTA) — The
integration of minority groups
in American industry resulting
from state and local Fair Em-
ployment Practices legislation
has been "accomplished to the
satisfaction ')f employers, work-
ers and labor unions," a Senate
labor subcommittee reported.
The report lists Connecticut,
Massachusetts, New Jersey, New
York, Oregon, Rhode Island,
Washington, Minneapolis and
Philadelphia as having "en-
forceable FEPC laws and points
out that more than two-thirds
of the country's Jewish popula-
tion live in those states and
cities.

NEW YORK, (JTA)—"Archae-
ologists and American investors
in Israel bonds are jointly re-
sponsible for opening the way to
exploitation of valuable copper
deposits at King Solomon's
Mines," it was reported by Dr.
Nelson Glueck, noted archaeolo-
gist and president of Hebrew
Union College—Jewish Institute
of Religion, upon his return
from a month's stay in Israel.
Dr. Glueck, discoverer of King
Solomon's Mines 20 years ago,
said he had conferred with Israel
officials on archaeological find-
ings which may have direct
bearings on that country's at-
tempts to exploit the mineral
potential of the Negev desert.
"New discoveries are constantly
bolstering the belief in the
enormous potential of the
Negev," he pointed out.
