Mrs. Simson to Keynote Wornen's
Israel Bond Institute on Thursday

the second annual institute of
. the Women's Division for the
State of Israel Bonds on Thurs-
day at Adas Shalom Synagogue,
;announced Mrs. Theodore Barg-
man, chairman of the Wom9n'S

tion" Zionist.

a close friend of David Wolfson,
second president of the World
Zionist Organization.
Preceding Mrs. Simson's ad-
dress will be a board of gover-
nor's breakfast at 9:30 a.m. for
presidentS and bond chairman,
announced Mrs. Bargman.
Mrs. Samuel Aaron, program:
chairman, has arranged f our
group discussions at:10:10 a.m.
including "Cash Collections," for

"Speakers Bureau;" Mrs. 'Lillian

Grahm, chairman; "Sales Train-

Mrs. Joseph Newman, chairman.
A luncheon will also precede
the general session, which starts
at 1:30 p.m. In addition to Mrs.
Simson's • talk, group session
leaders will giVe their reports.
Mrs. Joseph Ehrlich will, preside.
Mrs. Aaron pointed out that
the Institute will provide De-
troit 'women an opportunity to
familiarize themselves with the
problems and needs of Israel.
Panel sessions, skits, movies and
visual aids will be used to em-
phasize actual selling approach-
es.
Assisting in the group sessions
will be MesdameS Samuel Croll,
Alexander Sander s, Robert
Greenberg and A. Potiker, cash
collection; Philip cutler, Wil-
liam Greenwald and Norman
Brode, sales training; S h a y e
Foreman, Carl Schiller, Harry
Kay, Milton Winston and Irving
Lipson, or ganiz'ations.
The Institute is open to all
women interested in the needs
of Israel. It is not limited spe-
cifically to bond worker categor-
ies.
A special prayer will be de-
livered by Mrs. Ehrlich in trib-
ute to Chaim Weizmann, Is-
rael's first president who .died
this week, to open the Institute.

Nat'l. Mizrachi Leader
To Spark Pep Rally

Mrs. Joshua Lewis, president
of the Mizrachi Women's Organ-
ization of America, will be
guest speaker at a pep rally at
12:30 p.m., Nov. 26, at Young
Israel Center.
Her talk will mark the final
program in a series of rallies
sponsored in conjunction with
theknnual donor luncheon of
the Sisters of Zion Mizrachi
Chapter, to be held Dee. 3, at
Adas Shalom Synagogue.
Louis Goldfine, donor chair-
man, announces that reserva-
tions may be placed by calling
her at UN. 2-8498. Mrs. Milton
Winston, Chapter president, will
give a report at the Nov. 26
meeting on events taking place
at the national convention held
Nov. 9 to 12, at. Atlantic City.
Other .delegates attending the
parley , were Mesdames P. Lead-
er, L. Kaplan and Augusta
Subar.

Plan Kovler Games Party

The Kovler and Volyner Pro-
gressive Society will hold a
games party Sunday evening, at
the home of the Max Bednarsh-

rael, were congratulated this
week by the Synagogue Council
of Yeshivath Beth Yehudah, on
the assumption of their respect-
ive offices.
Gorman; has been a member
of the Yeshivah board for sev-
eral years, and one of its gen-
erous contributors. On Shemini
Atzereth, an appeal to worship-
ers at the Elmhurst 14 th
Shul resulted in a favorable re-
sponse, enabling' the admission
of a number of underprivileged
children at the Beth Yehudah
School. The officers and mem-
bership of the synagogue, which
is currently observing its 60th
anniversary, and its spiritual
head, Rabbi Joshua S. Sperka,
have been among the active
supporters of Yeshivath Beth
Yehudah for many years:
Bnai Israel, now located at
Linwood and Leslie, is the oldest
orthodox synagogue in the city,
popularly known as the Mullett
St. Shul. Rabbi Israel Flam, a
member of the faculty of the
Yeshivath, has been officiating
at the newly built HouSe of
Worship since it was opened
on Rosh Hashanah 5712. Close
ties bind Bnai Israel and the 36
year old Detroit center of in-
tensive Torah education.
With representatives of some
30 local congregations partici-
pating, the council will hold
monthly breakfast meetings to
acquaint synagogue officials
with the educational program
of Beth Yehudah Schbols. The
next session is scheduled for
Nov. 16.
Representatives of affiliated
congregations will meet that day
to make plans for the observ-
ance of the Beth Yehudah anni-
versary during Hanukah week,
and ending with a banquet on
Sunday evening, Dec. 21. Res-
ervations for the patron's din-
ner, which will be held at the
new Rosenberg Catering Hall,
Wyoming and Seven Mile Road,

Awarded Israel Scrolls

At a meeting of Mizrachi,
scrolls signed by Henry Morgen-
thau, Jr., chairman of the board
of the American Financial and
Development Corporation for Is-
rael, were presented to presi-
dents of synagogues which par-
ticipated in the High Holiday
subscription campaign for Is-
rale bonds.
Scrolls were awarded by Philip
Greenwood, local director of the
bond organization, after a pres-
entation by Phillip Stollman and
Abraham Nusbaum, co-chair-
men of the bond committee for
Mizrachi.
Rabbi Prero was toastmaster.

' A new camp for Jewish young-
sters will be opened next season
on a 1400 acre tract near Kal-
kaska, Mich., 60 miles South of
Charlevoix.
Called Camp Tanuga, it will
be operated by two men long
familiar with camping in Mich
igan. They are Aaron Cornbein,
who has been active in camp-
ing for 18 years, aid Bernard
Friedman, who has served at
several Michigan camps for the
past nine years. •
