Capital Needs Nov. 13

First . of the "Blue BoOk" sem-

Welfare Federation Women's

a consideration of capital needs.

Council Book Event
Features Opatoshu

On Nov. 16, 8:30 p.m. the
Jewish Community Council and
the Farband Organization of
Detroit will jointly sponsor a
Jewish Book Month program at
the Young Israel Center. Joseph
Opatoshu, noted Yiddish novel-
ist and essayist, be the
guest speaker. Tickets are avail-
alqle to all Yiddish speaking or-
ganizations of the Council.
Book Month Opens Today
The tenth annual . nationwide
celebration o f Jewish Book
Month begins today, under the
auspices of the Jewish Book
Month Council o. f America,
sponsored by the Jewish Wel-
fare Board.
Synagogues have set aside
Dec. 6, as Jewish Book Sabbath.
Appropriate book programs will
be conducted in Jewish homes
on Dec. 7, to be marked as Jew-
ish Book Festival.
The State Department's Voice
of America will beam a talk on
Jewish books to Israel on Nov.
12.

Sets Enrollment Record

More than 150 students are
enrolled in the Adas Shalom
branch of • the United Hebrew
Schools this semester, a record
enrollment.
At a board meeting in the
home of Mrs. Isadore Frankel,
new president of Adas Shalom
PTA, a committee was appointed
to arrange plans for a PTA
meeting at 12:30 p.m., Monday,
in the social hall. New officers,
in addition to Mrs. Frankel, are

Offer Cantorial Studies
NEW YORK, (JTA)—The He-
brew Union School of Sacred
Music will add a fourth year to
its cantorial course and will
offer—for the first time—a de-
gree of Bachelor of Sacred
