ith Liberty and Justice For Ai
DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER
We, the undersigned independent voters regard
with favor the candidate who in our Judgment will serve
. best the interests of. ALL the people; that's why- we are
for Dwight David Eisenhower as our next President of
the United States.
tj
We are not only satisfied -with .-Eisenhower as the
logical .man to lead our nation, but we are convinced that
a change "of administration is imperative.
This long range view is supported by John Roose-
velt who appeared in Detroit, Thursday, Oct. 16, and re-
peated a statement made by his father, the late President,
Franklin D. Roosevth: "Even a wisely-led political party,
given long tenure of office, finally fails to express the
will of the people; it ceases to be an gffeclive instrument
of government. -
"It is far better for such a political party, certainly
better for the state, that it should be relegated to the role
of critic, and that the opposing political party should as-
sume the reins of government."
In Ike's _record,- we find a continued fight for ,f rte= -
dom, justice and dignity of man. While others have
talked about freedom, Ike has devoted his life to making
it a reality—physically, spiritually and intellectually.
While' others have paid lip service to the principle of
doing unto others as you would have them do unto you,
IKE HAS LIVED IT !
It is. our conviction that in everything he has ever
done he has been motivated by the desire to do what is
fair and just , for (di. We base this conclusion not on
statements made in the heat of an election campaig,n but
on the open record of a life. of service to our country.
Our position is supported by the currentistatements of
outstanding Jewish leaders who have rallied to defend
Ike against false accusations which we feel do not war-
rant repetition.
Rabbi Abba Hillel Silver of Cleveland, Eugene
Meyer, Chairman of the Board of the Washington Post,
Brig. Gen: Julius Klein, and Bernard Baruch are among
the ,Iewish spokesMen who, last week,. stated their high
regard for Dwight D, Eisenhower and we feel we are in
good company •with them.
We believe Ike has shown he is capable of surrounding himself with me o
ability to work as a team . . . in peace as well as in war.
For his knowledge of world affairs, he has the high regard and respect of world
leaders. Knowing war, Ike loves peace,
- an way of life, he was openly invited by
For his efforts to preserve the Americ
President Truman to head the Democrat ticket.
For his contribution to the cause of better understanding between Christians and
Jews, he was awarded the annual American Hebrew Medal in 1946, .and has
* ' since received acclaim by Jewy throughout the nation for his consistent sup-
port in behalf of Israel.
