Voters

The commission on religious
organizations of the National
Conference of • Christians and
Jews called on the three major
religious faiths to register and
vote in the forthcoming presi-
dential election, -declaring the
act of voting in a democracy is
not only 'a privilege but a re-
sponsibility to be exercised by
Protestants, Catholics and Jews
alike. .
The statement was issued by
members of the executive com-
mittee of the commission who
met in New York.
The NCCJ is one of the na-
tional, non-partisan organiza-
tions cooperating with the regis- •
ter and vote campaign sponsor-
ed by the American Heritage
Foundation. Goal of the cam-
paign is to get at least 63.00,000
voters to the polls on Nov. 4,
15,000.000 more than have ever
voted.
The executive committee also
announced that five new mem-
bers had been named to the
commission, including Rabbi Al-
vin I. Fine, Cong. Emanuel, San
Francisco.

Music Study Club will open its
season with a luncheon at 12:30
p.m., Oct. 7, at the Park Shera-
ton Hotel. Mrs. Joseph Markel,
program chairman, will present

Detroit Federation of Musicians,
as principal speaker.
In addition, Cantor Judah.
Goldring. of Cong. Beth Aaron,
will render a selection of songs,
