Hello Boys and Girls:
Tonight is the night to say
it—"Happy New Year." Of
course you know that the Jewish
New Year, while it is a happy
holiday, is also a very serious
time. We spend many hours in
the synagogue, praying for God's
forgiveness for any wrongs we
may have done during the past
year, and praying for help in
being good and kind to all peo-
ple during the coming twelve

months. When you go to the
synagogue this weekend—either
with your parents or to a special
children's service, you will pray,
and sing, and you will hear the
shrill sound of the Shofar . . .

The Bimah was decorated with
flowers and greens, and the pul-
pit had on a beautiful velvet
cover. On it lay the prayerbook,
open to the services of the High

then fitted the Shofar to his

Danny held his breath. He

cult it was to make the right
sounds come forth at the right
time. But he didn't need to
worry this day.
There was the first call—a
