heard admonishing the Lord.

regarded as work," Rabbi Levi
Itzhak Berdichever said in a
prayerful tone, " but when it is
a question of saving a human
life, a Jewish life, one is per-
mitted to write even on the
Sabbath. Therefore, if Thou, 0,
Lord, dost intend to inscribe
this day for Thy people Israel
a year of life, blessing and
peace, Thou art certainly per-
mitted to write and shouldst so
write. But if Thy intention is
otherwise, I, Levi Itzhak Ber-
