East Germany Settle
Claims, Says Sharett
.
TEL AVIV, . (JTA)—Israel will
do its utmost to force East Ger-
many to repay its part of the
one and one-half million dollars
In reparations 'which the Jevsi
ish State is. claiming, Foreign
Minister 'Moshe Sharett told a
press conference. He said that
the East German authorities had
not yet replied to Israel's note
on compensation claims, adding
that the Jewish State will act to
"remind" East Germany and to
obtain a positive reply.
The Foreign Minister stressed
the political and moral signifi-
cance of the negotiations which
had brought the Germans to
"confess their responsibility" for
the massacre of European Jewry
and to undertake to pay corn-
vensation to the JeWish nation
and Israel,
JERUSALEM, (JTA)—The Is-

presented by Foreign Minister
Moshe Sharett and Dr. Nahum
Goldmann, w h o signed the
agreements on behalf of the Is-

ference on Jewish Material
Claims, respectively.
The government is determined
to' use the German reparations

spokesman declared.
He revealed that the govern-
ment had also appointed a nine-
man oil control board on which
the government will have four
representatives and the public,
five. The council will probably
be undgr the direction of Israel
Kosloff the governmen's adviser

Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry and

Very shortly

in New York's Rockefeller Cen-
ter, the Israel Bond-sponsored
"Israel 'Exposition" has brought
participating Israel firms their
first orders from customers in .
the United States.
Some companies received in-

and shipping details.
One of the more than 50,000
New Yorkers who braved a hot
August sun to view the largest
single assembly of Israel goods
exhibited in the United States,
was so sold on the exposition
and Israeli industry that he
packed his • bags and arrived
this week in Tel Aviv.
The visitor, a non-Jew, is an
amateur movie photographer.
He was so impressed with Israel
that he decided to make it the
subject of his next film.
