Detroit Chapter of Hadassah will present Jan Murray, promi-
nent entertainer of radio and television, as guest artist at its an-
nual $100 Honor Roll dinner, to be held this year on Oct. 1, at the
Sheraton-Cadillac Hotel. Taking part in the Honor Roll planning

Beginning a new year of plan-
ning at Mumford will be the
newly-elected Student Council.
Activities will get under way,
with Evelyn Rogoff in the top
post as president of the Coun-
cil. Her very able assistants are
Rick Grauer, veep; Jim Weitz-
man, secretary; and Dick Edgar,
treasurer.
The membefship includes Bar-
bara Levin, Dick Edgar, Evelyn
Rogoff and Rick' Grauer, from
the 12th grade; Nancy Blanke,
Henry Moses, Ann Neufeld and
Jim Weitzman, from the 11th
grade; and Lois Elbinger, Edith
Nolish, Jim Lewis and Joel
Dreyer, from the 10th grade.
A new youth group will be
a feature of the new season at
Temple Beth El, which has be-
gun under the aUspices of Rabbi
Minard Klein.
The group is a chapter of the
National Federation of Temple
Youth (NFTY), and is an en-
tirely separate body from the
high school department. It is
open to anyone from 15 to 18,
with the stipulation that mem-
bers are confirmands of Temple
Beth El or regularly attend high
school classes. •
Next meeting of the NFTY
chapter will be at 8 p.m., Wed-
nesday, in the temple youth
room, at which officers will be
/ elected. Those interested in so-
cial and cultural activities are
welcome. The first major un-
dertaking, already being plan-
ned, is the November youth
conclave, which the group win
host at Temple Beth El.
The membership of the Julie
Gottleib Chapter of .ihe Bnai
Brith girls are planning a busy
season, which will include so-
cials, dances and many other
affairs. Girls who joined the
Chapter this month are Judy
Turrick, Carol Polinsky, Elaine
Shanbrom, Judy Allen, Phyllis
Katz, Phyllis Cooper, Barbara
Rueben and Judy Lieber,

Bnai David Religious School
To Adjourn for Four Weeks

Following the first two weeks
of its Sunday School, Bnai David
religious school will adjourn- for
four weeks because of the forth-
coming holidays.
Instead, students are required
to attend special synagogue
services for youths. Services will
be conducted for children 7 to
12, and another for those 12 to
17.
Classroom " sessions begin
again on Oct. 19.

'Night of Games

First meeting of the Women's
Auxiliary of the Maimonides
Medical Society will be at 1 p.m.
Tuesday at Devon Gables. Pros-
pective new members- are in-
vited. Plans for the "Night of
Games," fund-raising affair, will
be formulated The event is
scheduled for 9 p.m. Wed., Nov. 5.
at the Latin Quarter. In the past
four years, Maimonides has con-
tributed $20,000 for artificial
limbs and rehabilitation of
maimed Israeli soldiers, and has
provided two yearly scholarships
for Wayne University medical
students and - two for Hebrew
University med students in Is-
rael.
