The Sisterhood held its instal-
lation luncheon Wednesday at
Mayfair. Mrs. Jacob Chinitz,
wife of the newly appointed
rabbi of the synagogue, gave the
invocation. Mrs. Herman Yar-
rows was installing officer. Mrs.
Sam Kallush, outgoing presi-
dent. gave the Benediction.

EVA PRENZLAUER MATER-
NITY AID will be held at the
home of Mrs. Louis Linden, 19375
Wisconsin, Tuesday, 1 p.m. Mrs.
Al Freund, president, appointed
four new board members, Mes-
dames Louis Linden, Sidney
Cohen. Julius Greenstone and
Harry Friedman. A new project
has been started to be called
"The Rose Basil Rose Service
Fund," to supply a housekeeper
to help the mother and new
baby upon their return from the
hospital. This project is in honor
of Mrs. Rose who recently passed
away and had been a member
of the organization for many,
many years.
The annual confirmation services of Adas Shalom Synagogue
will be conducted on Sunday, June 22. At homes will be held that
afternoon and evening for the following Adas Shalom confirmands:

Mrs. Posner was previously
Council vice-president of or-
ganization, and a past president
of Israel Chapter. She is also
active in the Roosevelt Home
and School Association, Allied
Jewish Campaign. Foster Home
Program of JSSB, and as a Girl
Scout advisor.
Mrs. Norman Kantor. retiring
president was given a special
gold pin in recognition of her
"tireless dedication to organiza-
tion work" during the two years
of her administration.
Morris Bornstein took time out
from his job with the State De-
partment where he works as an
intelligence specialist to receive
his Doctor of Philosophy Degree
in economics last Saturday at
commencement exercises of the
University of Michigan.
The 24-year-old son of Mr.
and Mrs. Samuel Bornstein, of
Ohio Ave.. is one of the youngest
persons ever to receive a PhD.
He wrote his thesis on "Bra-
zilian Banking and Finance," a
subject he studied as the re-
cipient of a $3500 fellowship
which took him to Brazil in
1949.
Prior to that, Dr. Bornstein
was an all - A graduate from
U. of M. in 1947, and received
his MA degree from the same
university in 1948.
