Mrs. Norman Kantor. retiring president was given a special gold pin in recognition of her "tireless dedication to organiza- tion work" during the two years of her administration. Morris Bornstein took time out from his job with the State De- partment where he works as an intelligence specialist to receive his Doctor of Philosophy Degree in economics last Saturday at commencement exercises of the University of Michigan. The 24-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Bornstein, of Ohio Ave.. is one of the youngest persons ever to receive a PhD. He wrote his thesis on "Bra- zilian Banking and Finance," a subject he studied as the re- cipient of a $3500 fellowship which took him to Brazil in 1949. Prior to that, Dr. Bornstein was an all - A graduate from U. of M. in 1947, and received his MA degree from the same university in 1948.
