Vaad Horabbonim
Scores Upward Trend
In Non-Kosher Catering
In a statement to the Jewish
Community here, the Vaad Hor-
abbonim has announced that
"Orthodox rabbis of Detroit will
not participate in or officiate at
any function where minimum
requirements of Jewish tradition
is not met.",
The statement explains these
minimum requirements as
"places where no kosher cater-
ing is provided and where meals
and refreshments are not in con-
formity with Jewish dietary
laws."
The Vaad expressed its con-
cern that "Bar Mitzvah, engage-
ment and wedding parties have
become divested of their deep,
spiritual significance a n d, in
many cases, have deteriorated
into ordinary merry - m a k i n g
with more or less appropriate
