Levenson's Hanukah Gift: A Bond

By BEN FEINGOLD

(American Jewish Press Feature)

Vignette a La Francaise:
He w a s a famous French
singer who had made many
American movies. When the
Nazis overran France, he sang
for the hated enemy. Pictures
of him in the company of bru-
talitarian officers were flashed
over the world. For this, he was
severely excoriated by the free
press and rightly so.
Now we have learned that he
sang for Der Nazidiots against
his wishes. The only .choice he
had was to see his wife go to
the gas chambers for the hein-
ous crime—of being a Jew.
His name—Maurice Chevalier!

Israelis Flock to Movie
Flayed by Pro-Red Forces

TEL AVIV, (AJP)—An Amer-
ican made film, "Four in a Jeep,"
drew fire from a left wing group
here on charges the movie
showed "unfriendliness" toward
Russian soldiers.
Despite a clamor by the
League of Friendship between
Israel and Soviet Russia that the
film should be banned, movie
goers crowded the theater here
and the picture was held over
for a second week.
Playing the role of a Russian
soldier in the film is Israeli Jos-
