Rabbi Sperka to Talk
At Mizrachi Luncheon

On Jan. 2, at 12:30 p.m., the,
Sisters of Zion Mizrachi will
present its annual child rescue
luncheon at Rosenberg's Cater-
ing. Mrs. Rosenberg will be
hostess to members and contrib-
utors. All proceeds go for child .
restoration activities of Miz-
rachi Women in Israel.

In-Service Training Institute at
8 p. m., on seven successive
Mondays, Jan. 14 through Feb.
25, at the Davison Jewish Center.
Subjects to be covered at the
sessions include "Jewish Histor-
ical Background," "Jewish Holi-
days, Customs and Ceremonies,"
"Varieties of Jewish Religious
Expressions: Orthodox and Re-
form," "Varieties of Jewish Re-
ligious Expressions: Conserva-
tive a n d Reconstructionist,"
"Jewish Ideologies: Zionism and
Anti- Zionism," and "Jewish
Ideologies: Secular Movements."
The final session will be a sum-
mary and social.
The Institute as conceived in
1949 to provide an annual dis-
cussion series on subjects de-
signed to supplement and
strengthen the agency profes-
sional staff'S understanding of
the historical and sociological
background of the organized
community and to provide a
medium, cutting across func-
tional lines, for a professional
consideration of basic concepts
and philosophy.
Harold Silver, executive direc-
tor of the Jewish Social Service
Bureau, is chairman of the In-
stitute Planning Committee, and
Ben M. Mandelkorn, Federation
administrative assistant, is sec-
