12—THE JEWISH NEWS

A new star is rising on the
artistic firmament in the person
of 16-year-old Basil King of 2533
Calvert, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Mark King.
Basil, a student at Cass High
School, has shown promise with
crayons and brushes since child-
hood. His futuristic and other
works have been commended by
critics. He now has one of his
works on exhibit at the Mich-
igan Artists show and another
is on display among works of
the Saturday classes at the Art
Institute.

The major of Basil's works
now on display is "The Boy,"
listed as Number 30 in the
Art Institute exhibit. This

JWF Women's Division Board Session Nov. 26

Honoring members of their 12
year-round committees, the
Women's Division of the Jewish
Welfare Federation will hold an
"Open Board M e et i n g " with
luncheon following, at 10:30
a.m., Monday, Nov. 26, at the
Davison Jewish Center.
Because most of the commit-
tee activity of the Women's Di-
vision means working in small
groUps, Mrs. John C. Hopp, pres-
ident, who will preside, pointed
out that the get-together will

give women an opportunity to
meet volunteers from other com-
mittees and to see how each of
their jobs makes for a more ef-
fective Women's Division.
Mrs. M. George Wayburn, food
chairman, and Mrs. -Ben Fish--
man, vice-chairman, will have
their committee working on
luncheon arrangements for the
affair.
