Centers Spend $13,130,000 On Building Programs
NEW YORK, (JTA)
Forty-
three Jewish Community Cen-
ters in 40 communities—in 20
states—embarked on building
programs involving the erection
of new structures or the remod-
eling of existing facilities with a
total estimated cost of $13,130,-
000 during the year ended Aug.
31, it was reported by the Na-
tional Jewish 'Welfare Board.
In the three years from Sept
1, 1948, to Aug. 31, 1951, Jewish
6enters, launched building pro-
grams estimated to cost $43,130,-
000. During these years 69 new
or remodelled Center structures
were completed at a cost of $14,-
536,000.
History shows that the press

Council in plenary session voted
to discOntinue until 1954 its sub-
commission for the prevention
of discrimination and the pro-
tection of minorities. At the

took steps to continue the UN's
- efforts to prevent discrimination
. and uphold minorities. Annual
meetings of the Commission on
Human Rights were also discon-

Transvaal Nationalists Remove

JOHAN NESBURG, (JTA) —
The Transvaal provincial divi-
sion . of the Nationalist Party
' voted unanimously to drop the
clause from its constitution ban-
ning Jews from membership.
The provincial division was the
only section of the party which
carried the discriminatory clause
1 against Jews.
-4 The decision was taken at the
Pretoria conference of the party
which was addressed by South
African Premier Daniel F. Malan
and-other _ members_ ,.of-the.._cabi-.
net. It -Will be aiinounced after
a full committee discussion. The
: conference also unanimously ap-
proved merger of the Nationalist
and Afrikaner parties.
