Mizrachi on Bar Mitzvah

Gerald Stollman, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Philip Stollman, was
accorded an unusual honor, on
the occasion of his Bar Mitzvah,
by being elected to life member-
ship of Mizrachi.
At the dinner in his honor at
Latin Quarter on Sunday eve-
ning, Gerald was presented with
a life membership certificate by
Rabbi Israel Friedman of New
York, national membership di-
rector of Mizrachi.
In addition to Gerald's speech,
which was based on the week's
Scriptural selections, the dinner
was addressed by Rabbis Her-
schel Stollman, New York, S.
Stollman, Windsor, S. Zambrow-
sky, Toronto, M. Kirshblum, New
York and Dr. Pinkhos Churgin,
New York.
An engraved plate was pre-
sented to the Bar Mitzvah's
father by Daniel Temchin, in
the name of local Mizrachi, in
appreciation of his efforts for
the movement.
Rabbi Isaac Stollman, uncle -of
the Bar Mitzvah, spoke at the
Sabbath services at Young Is-
rael Center.
The services and the dinner
were greatly enhanced by the
participation of the world fam-
ous Cantor Moshe Kussevitsky.

CLUB 25 will plan a wienie
roast at their next meeting at
the home of Molly Demian.

'Contrasts His Munich
Poem With One of '51

A

Detroiter who experienced
the tragedies that were in evi-
dence in Germany in the days
of the Munich fiasco in 1938 this
week produced a poem he wrote
then and appended to it a cur-
rent thought. The author of
these poems prefers to be known
only by the initials of his name,
A. D. C.:

MU N IC H-1938

Some day the World will yet awake
and blush
Because, tho warned, it failed the Hun
to crush.
It saw for years the gangs of Hitler rule,
It saw their bloody crimes, but, kept
aloof and cool.
The Hun's vile propaganda and black lies
Could spread uncheck'd under God's
vaulted skies,
And where their dragonteeth the Huns
had sown,
Rivers of human blood and misery had
flown!
Yet, Presidents and Kings had grasped
those hands
That gave to all the Laws of God offence,
Those hands that by the thousands
maim'd and slew
Innocent creatures who no Evil knew,
Yes, Presidents, Kings, Lords, they all
disdained
To -check the Hunnish hordes, roving,
unchained.
They even tried the cries of Agony to
hush!
What wonder that for them the World
some day will blush!

1951

In those lines I comppsed long years ago,
What stirred the Wald then, I had tried
to show.'
The World is still stired we in truth
must say,
