Police Say Crackpot
Bombed Miami's Center
MIAMI (AJP)—A resurgent
Klu Klux Klan bent on whipping
up a pre-election anti-Jewish
hysteria was charged by the
president of the. dynamited
Northside Jewish Center here
with setting off an explosion
which ripped the rest room of
the near-completed model center
causing an estimated $500 dam-
age. No one was injured in the
night explosion.
Charges by the president,
George Weisbaum, were coupled
with disclosures of cross-burn-
ings of a shot through the win-
dow of a temporary Jewish Cen-
ter and pressure tactics aimed
at preventing the purchase of
land by a Jewish group in near-
by Hialeah.
"I am positive," Weisbaum
said, "that this is the work of
the KKK."
The Florida State Legislature
last month passed a ruling de-
signed to curtail the KKK and
impose a ban on the wearing of
masks, part of the hate group's
protective garb.
Police patrol cars roamed the
area following the explosion, but
no arrests were made.
One police official expressed
belief the explosion was the work
of "a crackpot." Je

Israel Successfully
Combatting Inflation
TEL AVIV, (JTA)—Israel is
successfully combatting infla-
tion, David Horowitz, director
general of the Israel Ministry of
Finance, told a public gathering
here.
Listing the chief causes of in-
flation as immigration, security
spending and housing expendi-
tures, Mr. Horowitz said that the
inflation was being brought un-
der control by balancing the
budget, controlling distribution,
greater savings and the restrict-
ing of credit. He revealed that in
the first quarter of 1951 exports
yielded 3,700,000 pounds in for-
eign exchange as compared with
1,800,000 pounds for the corres-
ponding period of last year.
