Dr. and Mrs. Arthur Gilbert of Whitmore Drive were in
Muskegon for a few days to visit members of their family.
Mr. and Mrs. Tobias Garon of Oak Drive and Mr. and Mrs.
Alvin Winkelman of Port Huron have returned from a two
months' tour of Europe.
Cpl. Howard Freeman has returned to camp in Texas after a
two-week furlough spent with his parents, Mr-. and Mrs. Jack
Freeman of Chicago Blvd.
Mrs. Joseph Landsberg of Greenlawn Ave. is spending a week
at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City.
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Miller of Prevost Ave. have as house
guest the latter's mother, Mrs. Volan of Pittsburgh.
Dr. and Mrs. Colman Goldberg were in town for a visit with
their parents, the Labes and the Goldbergs. • Dr. Goldberg just has
received his Ph.D. in Physics from Northwestern University, and
accompanied by his wife, Shirley, will go on: to Pittsburgh to
establish residence there.
Mrs. Nathaniel Goldstick of Boston Blvd. is off to New York
City for a visit with her daughter.
Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Bloch of W. Buena Vista will leave for
Toronto to visit the latter's parents.
Abraham Raitt of Lawrence Ave. was in New York City the
past week to greet relatives who arrived from South Africa.
Mrs. Herman Victor of Richton Ave. honored bride-elect, Mary
Lou Kleinman, at a luncheon for 50 guests.
Mrs. Fred Ginsburg of Whitmore Manor is visiting her chil-
dren, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Tatarsky, in Denver, Colo:
Mr. and Mrs. I. Rodman Myers of the Seward Hotel entrained
for Los Angeles to spend the summer months.
Mrs. Lena Goldstein of Glynn Court was honored at a family
party on the occasion of her 80th birthday.
Mrs.. Alfred Loewenstein of Warrington Drive is in Cleveland
for a visit with her niece and nephew, Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Silber-
man, and Mr. and Mrs. Allan Littman.
Dr. and Mrs. Lewis Wasserman of Fairfield Ave. were hosts to
members of their family from Toledo, 0., and to Mr. and Mrs.
Harry Leanord of Lambertville, Mich., on the occasion of their
son, Frederic Howard's Bar Mitzvah.
Harris Crohn, who has been attending the Julliard School of
Music, arrived home to spend the summer with his parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Lawrence Crohn of Wildemere Ave. His sister, Leah,
who also is studying advanced music and is soloist at the Free
Synagogue in New York City, will return home shortly.
Mr. and Mrs. Herman H. Holinstat of Roselawn Ave. are en-
joying a fortnight's vacation on the West Coast.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry B. Jacobs and daughter, Matilda, are now
at their new residence, 3165 0a.kman Blvd.
Allan Clama.ge, son of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Clamage, of
Prairie Ave., left Monday from Montreal aboard the S.S. Vollen-
dam for a four-month study and travel visit in Europe. Allan
graduated from the University of Michigan last year. He will
take post graduate work at the University of London.
William London, former Detroiter now residing - in Beverly
Hills, Calif., is in the city for a fortnight to visit various members
of his family.
Mr. and Mrs:. Martin Goldman have returned to their Wood-
Ingham Drive residence after a four months' stay in Los Angeles.
Mrs: Harry Conheim of Lawton Ave., has left for Cincinnati
to be the house guest of her sister and brother-in-law, Mr, and
Mrs. Charles Ash.
Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Krell of Miami Beach are here for a few
days' visit with their father, Benjamin Krell, Jr., of Lawrence
Ave., and then will proceed to ,Youngstown to see Mrs. Krell's
parents before returning to Miami Beach.
Mrs. Mathilde Sofer of Chicago Blvd., entrained East yester-
day. She will spend a few weeks with her grandchildren, Mr. and
Mrs. William Sapiro of East Orange, N. J., and visit other mem-
bers of her family in New York City.
Mr. Leo Michelson, of Collingwood . Ave., has as his guests
Mr. and Mrs. Max Michelson, of Bay City, who are here to celebrate
the confirmation of his grandson.
Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Panush of Indiana Ave. celebrated
their 44th wedding anniversary on June 5.

Mrs. Adele Mondry, president
of Club 1 of Pioneer Women,
who just returned from a six-
week tour of Israel, will be the
honored guest and speaker at
a special meeting of Club 1,
Tuesday evening, at the Labor
Zionist Institute.
Mrs. Mondry, who visited Is-
rael with her husband, Harry,
will report on her experiences
and will bring a personal mes-
sage from Detroit Pioneer
Women's Children's Homes in
Kfar Saba and Rishon L'Zion.
The meeting is open to all
Pioneer Women and friends. Re-
freshments will be served.

JERUSALEM — Acting Prem-
ier Moshe Sharett Monday night
announced in Parliament the
release of the last 16 of 56 per-
sons detained several weeks ago
after the smashing of the re-
ligious underground movement
Brit Kanaim for allegedly plot-
ting to blow up the Parliament:
Mr. Sharett said that only 13
of the arrested men will face
trial.
A police sergeant, testifying
in magistrate's court hearings
in the investigation of the
alleged plot by the Brit Kan-
aim, said he h a d found a
crude home-made bomb in the
home of Noah Wormesser, one
of the defendants. He said
the bomb was a container
filled with cellulloid film and
fuses which would explode
with a loud noise and emit
acrid fumes.
In the midst of a parliamen-
tary free-for-all, a Mapam re-
solution censuring "religious
fanatics for endeavoring to im-
pose religious rules on the state"
was adopted. The Mapam mo-
tion was passed after. one in-
troduced by the religious bloc
callh%g on the Knesset not to
force the issue of whether it
had the power to issue orders to
the government on administra-
tive matters was carried. This
represented a reversal of the
Knesset's decision of last week
in which the orthodox bloc con-
curred and brought - about the
Mapam's anti-religious bloc
move.
The religious bloc motion on
Tuesday alsci carried a second
part which called for the early
trial of all religious under-
ground members against whom
the government had evidence,
and the immediate release of all
other detainees. The Acting
Premier's announcement took
the wind out of the sails of the
orthodox parties on this matter.
However, the Knesset appointed
a seven-man committee to in-
vestigate orthodox charges of

In the matter of the UN role
in the Israel-Syrian dispute,
Parliament adopted a Mapai
motion regretting the UN Se-
curity Council's resolution pre-
venting Israel from completing

the government to disregard
the UN and complete the pro-
ject were turned down.
