L. Tendler Wiris
Congress Award
Louis Tendler, Detroit News
reporter, was chosen this year's
recipient of the annual Amity
Award of the Women's Division
of the American Jewish Con-
gress. Tendler will be given a
plaque at a luncheon, Wednes-
day, 12.30 p.m., at Masonic Tem-
ple. Mrs. Harry Frank, presi-
dent, will preside.
The award committee, headed
by George Schermer of the
Mayor's Interracial Committee
chose Tendler for his series of
articles entitled, "Detroit and
the Negro" which appeared in
the June issues of The Detroit
News. The articles described the
conditions of the Negro com-
munity in relation to housing,
employment, education and
health.
Featured speaker on the pro-
gram will be Spencer D. Irwin,
associate editor and foreign af-
fairs columnist of the Cleveland
_Plain Dealer. His topic will be
"Northern Outpost o f Peace."
Election of officers will follow
his address.

The bride wore a gown of
chantilly lace over satin. Her
fingertip veil of illusion was held
in place by a modified cloche
trimmed in identical lace.
Attending the bride as maid
of honor was Onny Goldsmith,
with bridesmaids, Mrs. Philip
Wedes, Mrs. Paul Aberly and
Miss Nesie Indianer. Junior
bridesmaid was Sandra Howard,
and flower girl was Charlene
Peller.
Dave Goldsmith was his
brother's best man. Ushers in-
cluded his brother, Irving, and
the bride's brothers, Paul and
Ansel Aberly. Jerry Goldsmith
was junior usher.

Welland, Ont., Jackson, Lansing,
New York, Cleveland and Miami

Under her guidance, the La-
dies maintain the Beth Jacob/
School for Girls. It was Mrs.
Rottenberg's assistance that
made possible the first Yeshivah
home on Pingree, a second one
on Elmhurst, and finally a lot
on Dexter to serve the growing
institution.
