Dr. Cook Concludes Franklin Lectures

Dr. Lloyd A. Cook, professor
of educational sociology at
Wayne University, will be the
final speaker in the University's
Series of "Leo M. Franklin Lec-
tures in Human Relations." He
will speak on "Better Human
Relations—The Educator's Role"
.t 8 p.m., Thursday, in the
Rackham Memorial auditorium.
: Dr. Cook, holder of the Leo
M. Franklin Professorship for
1950-51, came to Wayne in 1946
from Ohio State University. His
directorship of the National Col-
lege Study in Intergroup Rela-
tions, sponsored by the Ameri-
can Council an Education, has
had nation-wide at tention
among professional groups.

Kvutzah Women Hold
Their Annual Program

The annual women's program
of Kvutzah Ivrith will be held at
9 p.m., Sunday, in the auditor-
ium of the Rose Sittig Cohen
Bldg., 13226 Lawton.
The central theme of the pro-
gram is "Life and Literature in
Israel with Emphasis on the
Role of the Woman." Partici-
pants are Yonah Yoshpeh, Mir-
iam Jonathan and Yonena Ma-
this, chairman.
The program will be intro-
duced by Mrs. Julius R i n g,
president of the Ladies Aux-
iliary of the Kvutzah. Refresh-
ments will be served. There is
no admission charge. The pub-
lic is invited.
A feature of the program will
be the distribution of the newly.
published, Hed - Ha -K v u t zah
(Echo of the Kvutzah) , an an-
nual Hebrew publication, which
reflects the work of the Kvut-
zah during the year. It con-
tains a description of the var-
ious activities and the abridged
contents of important lectures.
Hed-Ha-Kvutzah was edited
by Bernard Isaacs, Meyer
Mathis and Aaron Toback. A
copy can be obtained from the
office of the United Hebrew
Schools.

Follows Father's Lead
In Philanthropic Service

PHILADELPHIA—The philan-
thropic leadership of Samuel
Gerson, of the Bel Crest Apart-
ments in Detroit, is emulated by
his son-in-law here.
Sol Kushner, who is married
to the former Lois Gerson, of
Detroit, is following the pattern
set by his father-in-law, a lead-
er in the Detroit campaign of
the United Jewish Appeal. It was
announced here this week that
Kushner, one of the owners of
the Glengarry Knitting Mills,
has been named chairman of
the knit goods manufacturers
division of the 1951 Philadelphia
Allied Jewish Appeal.
In accepting chairmanship of
the division, Kushner pledged to
extend every effort so that the
knit goods manufacturers will
be able to set a pace for genero-
sity for all other trade groups
in the communiey to follow.
Kushner has taken active part
in many philanthropic and civic
endeavors in the community.
While he has participated in
previous campaigns of the Allied
Jewish Appeal, this marks the
first time that he has assumed
a major role of leadership.

Rabbi Segal Meets With
Conservative Leaders

Rabbi Jacob E. Segal, spiritual
leader of the Ados Shalom syna-
gogue, will deliver a sermon and
lead a discussion group at the
fifth annual meeting of the na-
tional planning and campaign
Committee of the Jewish Theo-
logical Seminary of America,
The Rabbinical Assembly of
America and The United Syna-
gogue of America, which will be
held in New York May 4 to 6,
it was announced by Daniel G.
Ross, chairman of the commit-
tee. on arrangements.
S e v e r al hundred delegates,
representing over 400 Conserva-
tive congregations, will report
on the $1,972,000 national goat
Of the Seminary, the United
Synagogue and the Rabbinical
Assembly.
