Detroit Organizations Mobilize for Bond Drive'

Hadassah, Zionist Organizations,
Bnai Brith Select Chairmen and
Commissions for Israel Campaign

The Israel bond drive, to be
launched on May 1, is taking
shape in .Detroit with the for-
mation of numerous bond com-
mittees.
• Men's and Women's Zionist
Organizations, Bnai Brith and
other groups already have
selected chairmen and many are
accepting over-all quotas in the
three-year investment effort.

The governing board of the
Detroit bond drive committee
met at dinner Wednesday eve-
ning, at Hotel Statler, under
t h e chairmanship of Max
Osnos and formulated plans
for the drive. Robert Nathan,
noted economist, outlined Is-
rael's needs and opportunities
and told of the plans afoot to
make I s r a el self-sustaining
with the investment funds to
be made available by the bond
drive. He emphasized that the
vast opportunities existing in
Israel should encourage en-
thusiastic participation in the
$500,000,000 bond drive.

On Monday evening, leaders
in all groups of the Zionist Or-
ganization of Detroit will meet
to plan the ZOD bond drive.
Under the chairmanship of
Morris Jacobs, the ZOD has ac-
cepted a goal of $3,000,000. ZOD
Chapter chairmen include the
following: Willie Shanfield,
Daniel Frisch Chapter; Dr. Al-
bert A. Schwartz, Haifa Chap-
ter; Bill Fitzerman, Masada;
Max Chomsky, Nordau Chapter.

The Mizrachi Organization
of Detroit has selected Philip
Stollman as the bond chair-
man . and hopes to sell $1,000,-
000 worth of bonds.'

Abe Nusbaum, Miztachi vice-
president, has been named Mr.
Stollman's co-chairman of the
Mizrachi bond committee.
The appointments were an-
nounced by Irving W. Schlussel,
Mizrachi president, who also
named Daniel Temchin, Morris
Snow, Max stollman, Louis Rose,
Sol B. Edelman and Moe Yolles
as executive assistants.
The American • Mizrachi move-
ment officially announced the
launching of a nationwide effort
on the part of the. religious-
Zionists to sell $25,000,000 in
bonds.
Labor Zionist Organization
bond chairmen include the fol-
lowing:
Pioneer Women's Council, Ida
Kay; Poale Zion Branch 10, Sid-
ney Fields; Farband Branch 79,
'Simon Richardson; Poale Zion
Branch 4, Label Hoffmitz.

A Labor Zionist bond rally
will be held Monday, April 30.

The over-all bond committee

of Detroit chapter of Hadassah

includes t h e following: Mes-
dames Max Dushkin, Perry
Burnstine, Israel Davidson, Ed-
ward C. Levy, Jack Tobin, Ralph
Davidson, Theodore Bar g m a n
and M. R. Saulson. Hadassah
groups' bond chairmen are:
Mrs. Claude Grassgreen, Cen-
tral East; Mrs. Myron Stein-
berg, Central West; Mrs. Henry
Carrick, Russell -Woods West;
M r s. Benjamin Weiss, Russell
Woods East; Mrs. William Roth,
Sherwood; Mrs. Jacob S. Sauls,
Wyoming; Mrs. Morris Witus,
University East; Mrs. Philip Slo-
movitz, University West; Mrs. M.
A. Wayne, Bagley; Mrs. Aaron

Kurland, Southern Oakland
County; Miss Bluma Levin, Bus-
iness and Professional.

Acceptance of the honorary
chairmanship of the Detroit
bond drive by Israel Davidson,
pioneer Detroit Zionist, has
heartened the workers.

Other prominent leaders who
are playing important roles in
the bond drive include Morris
Schaver, Louis Berry, Joseph
Holtzman, Nathan Plotkin, Abe
Kasle, Harry Schumer, Mrs.
Ralph Davidson and others.
