With the opening of the ORT
.(Organization f o r Rehabilita-

in Iran, the battle against the
Persian ghetto was begun. The

the recently opened Teheran
School standing atop their self-
built structure, proudly flanking
the Hanukah menorah and the
Israeli • flag, and pupils carrying
out the building operations at
the first ORT center in Teheran
under the direction of a local
architect. There are at present
two training workshops for car-
penters and masons which ac-
commodate 120 students who
are refugees from Kurdistan.
The school for agricultural me-
chanics already has 60 students
enrolled and the school for girls
who are receiving instruction in
sewing, cutting and shirtmaking
has 103 pupils. Most of the ORT
students plan to emigrate to Is-
rael and by receiving prior vo-
cational training they will enter
as independent 'and useful citi-
zens ready to participate in the
growing Israeli economy.
